+TrekMD #7 Posted June 29, 2010 I'm sure with a SUPER Cartridge with extra RAM, POKEY, and all the bells and whistles (of course), someone can make a very faithful version for the 2600 able to compete with the Jaguar version.
Nesbroslash #8 Posted June 29, 2010 They still looked better than that stupid crap. Everything about it is wrong. Well sorry for just trying to amuse some people with a hilariously under-authentic video I found. No offense, but if you endlessly correct things like that people may begin to dislike you, not saying anyone does currently. Just please keep in mind I'm not the type to know everything about what can and can't be done on the 2600.
Crazy Climber #9 Posted June 29, 2010 Because I have never seen a game that looks that blocky Mostly true..but what about Outlaw? Pretty blocky... http://www.atariage.com/screenshot_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=

You clearly state in your post that "Call me crazy, but it actually does look like what Sonic would be on the Atari" So yes I do call you crazy. And really boy don't turn this thread into something its not by making personal comments.

kool kitty89 #18 Posted June 30, 2010 (edited) Sonic would look nothing like that one a 2600 Have you actually ever played on a 2600? Because I have never seen a game that looks that blocky Yeah, that's more like... Hmm maybe the Vic 20? Maybe the A8 using one of the low res modes? (like 80x96) Oh, and a lot of early VCS games ere pretty blocky, like Outlaw. (though the pixels don't tend to be oddly wide) There's way too many colors on-screen (per line), or the sprites at very least, and sound isn't quite right. Now THIS is a good example of such a conversion (although I think it's an actual demo, not a fake) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvrpXc8C3S8 I saw both of those a year or so ago, and yeah, I thought the Sonic one was kind of lame... the MM one is awesome. (scaline sprite palette changing might have been a bit better looking -same would have applied to sonic had it been a realistic fake for the gloves/shoes at least) Edited June 30, 2010 by kool kitty89
ls650 #19 Posted June 30, 2010 Yes, that Megaman 2600 binary is available in the forums here, and is playable with Stella or Harmony.

Way too intense over such an insignificant topic. Lol! Thank you! I was thinking the same thing. There are some nice looking games on the VCS, but there were just as many horribly blocky games. But seriously, some people need to pull the stick out of their ass and be nicer.
