Which Atari Games don't have color manuals?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Any takers on this? At least on the first party carts, most Atari manuals were in full color pre crash then the rereleases in the gray boxes had black and white manuals. Then the Red Label carts either had Black and White Manuals or Red and White.

So on the Atari side which Silver Label carts don't have a color version?

you got your quadrun with it's red and black style

http://www.atariage.com/manual_thumbs.html...wareLabelID=381

vs millipede same style but in full color

http://www.atariage.com/manual_thumbs.html...wareLabelID=301

then there are the earlier silver manuals like centipede

http://www.atariage.com/manual_thumbs.html...twareLabelID=71

and the poster style manuals like Dig Dug and Moon Patrol (at least my copies)

I'd also love to know if there are any late Activision manuals (other than Cosmic Commuter) that are not in color...

Any takers?

Thanks,

le geek

I have the following black and white Activision manuals that may not be available in color versions. They are Commando, Double Dragon, Ghostbusters, Rampage and River Raid II. My Cosmic Commuter is a pretty blue and white.

I think the later released PAL Imagic games (International Edition) has too only a Black / White Manual.

I own 2 Cosmic Ark near complete. The first silver lable has a Color Manual and the white lable has only a Black / White Manual.

I am not 100% sure which Box and Manual is the silver or white lable cartridge. But I think the white lable was later released and on the back from the boxes stand this:

Rev. B - Color Manual

Rev. C - Black / White Manual

:) :D

i thought you wanted to know what atari silver label games have "no color version the instructions". in your list, any title without a "(color)" note...does that mean your copy of the docs are in black and white?

one thing to remember is that atari re-released a lot of their games in 1986-1987-1988 and in some cases (especially those released with multi-language docs), those re-releases came with docs that were black and white. for example, the silver label asteroids has a 1986 copyright and was packed with a multi-language black and white version of the manual, also copyright 1986. but, there is a color version of the asteroids manual.

there are also color instructions for the original releases of gravitar, obelix, pengo, crystal castles, rubik's, waterworld and i'm pretty sure all the realsports titles have color docs. i'm curious though, i've never seen black/white waterworld docs...do you have a set of those?

i'm almost certain all the activision titles other than those mentioned by froggger2 have color versions. i think ghostbusters has a manual with blue type, but i'll have to check to be sure about that. all the blue label re-release versions of activision games came with black/white docs, as did many of the international releases, including canada. all the salu versions of activision games came with cheap black/white instructions.

all imagic games have color docs and some were re-released with black/white versions of the docs. only wing war has no color version...it has the same black/white docs like the blue label atlantis, demon attack, moonsweeper.

Yeah, I guess I should have been more specific. I'm assuming that post crash rereleases are B+W like many of those that I got back in 2600jr days...

the list is basically from my collection, if it doesn't say then I don't have the manual. if it says B+W that's what I have...

Just trying to figure out what's out there. Obviously there's color asteroids manual, but is the a color silver style asteroids manual? Or for Space invaders for that matter...

BTW do my manuals descriptions (beyond color, i.e. white poster, silver booklet etc) make sense?

Which title(s) can you (or anyone else) verify as being in color?

Thanks,

le geek

well, for asteroids and space invaders, i can only say i haven't yet seen a silver style set of instructions. i don't think there is even a silver box for asteroids, but that could be just because i don't live in canada. my silver label asteroids came in a sealed red box. maybe someone that owns one of the silver boxes for space invaders can answer if a silver or b/w manual came with it.

i actually didn't notice the "white poster" when i first read your list. now that i look at dig dug on atariage, i know what you mean. basically, it's a manual without staples (single sheet foldout). so would you call a single fold manual a poster or it's only a poster if it has at least two folds

?

snoopy, pigs, and sorcerer's apprentice had several versions of docs. one was a big foldout poster (folds out in two directions), one was a typical multi-page color stapled book, and another was a black & white version of the multi-page book.
