I don't think the Lynx should be compared to a 5200 or a 7800 because Atari Lynx is a handheld. Lynx is a fine handheld system.

While the Atari 5200 got Sinistar, it is really the first major game the Atari 5200 got since Adventure II in 2007.

A majority of Atari 5200 games actually were ports of the Atari 8 bit computer line. Atari 5200 has really slowed down on homebrew game releases and the homebrew scene peak for the 5200 was around 2004. The system isn't getting the support as the 7800 does for the most stuff in recent years for including new accessories.

Atari 7800 has the stronger homebrew scene compared to the Atari 5200 since 2006. Atari 7800 has been getting homebrew authors since 2005 and at the same time, the Atari 5200 has decreased on the amount homebrew authors working on games on it for some reason or another since 2004. Matter of fact, there was some work done on Frenzy for the Atari 7800 as a homebrew and the same thing with Arkanoid.

Atari 7800 has an expansion module being worked on. The games being worked on it it unknown at this time except for a version Donkey Kong of Donkey Kong that is missing nothing from the arcade version. Rest of the games for Atari 7800 expansion module that are being worked will be shown at the Classic Gaming Expo later this month.

The expansion module for the Atari 7800 is capable of blowing out the 5200 in what it could for games compare to the 5200 depending on what games the homebrew author decide to releases for the Atari 7800 expansion module The Atari 7800 has the capabilities of doing Nes or Sms era games, but it had some major hurdles that isn't graphics related. The expansion module gives the Atari 7800 an easier time to nes, and Sms games besides games from the early 1980's.

The Atari 7800 module isn't supposed do anything for the Atari 7800 in terms improving graphics in amount of colors, or faster cpu or resolution for the system, but it improves the memory, sound and adding other stuff to make easier for programmers to work.
