DaytonaUSA #1 Posted July 11, 2010 When I got my white 40gb (originally) PS3, it obviously came with a Sixaxis controller. I will admit, it was very odd to feel a controller so lite, but I loved it non-the-less. Playstation controllers since the first dual shock have been horribly uncomfortable for me, but the position of the back two triggers made the controller go from crampt, to comfortable. However, since the DS3 came out, I've been itching to buy one for the rumble capabilities. I finally gave in today at Best Buy as they had their last white one in stock. The build seemed alright at first, save for a squeak in the right back trigger I'm trying to live with (but seems to be going away). I played for a couple hours today, and decided I wanted to play some tonight before bed. Being that it's night.. well, it's dark. To my dismay, I found this: Here is my white Sixaxis: And here is my white DS3: Do you see what I see? Yea.. the red led's light streams straight through the plastic on the DS3. It's not because the lights are brighter either. Each of the controller's leds are the same brightness. It just seems they went cheaper on the plastic of the DS3. I'll let you guys know how it holds up. I treat my things VERY nicely, but sometimes my Sixaxis has fallen, or gotten hit, and there's not a single mark on it. I'm hoping I'll have the same luck with this controller. I just think this is horrible though. I paid a LOT of money for this thing, and the least I'd expect is that it's not practically see through. It just looks cheap. What a rip off. And normally I'd say oh maybe it's the white color.. but .. there's the Sixaxis... proving it's possible! Anyone having problems with the black ones or any other color like red or silver?
Video #2 Posted July 11, 2010 Weird. It's possible that internally, the LED housing is different, and that could cause the bleed through you see (like the 6A controller has a better lens cover on it and the DS3 has a crappier one) You could open it and see...But I wouldn't advice doing that, it's just me Also, it could be that the plastic is different colored. The controller looks white, but it's possible the plastic itself is a different color, and it's instead painted to look white (again, seeing the inside could confirm this) Different colors let different amounts of light though. (or more accurately, different wavelengths) It's possible since the LED is red (or orange) that the red controller would show it off the most, and it would be practically hidden on a blue version. If it bothers you to much, and you're not uncomfortable with taking the thing apart, one thing you could do that I've done on many tings, is open the controller up, get some light colored model paint, (I have used whiteout) and paint over the offending part inside. Outside, the controller will look unchanged, but that would end the bleed through you see.
xenomorpher #3 Posted July 11, 2010 Hmm, I always thought my Sixaxis plastic was cheaper because it was somewhat transparent and not the other way around.

DaytonaUSA #5 Posted July 14, 2010 i had a red ds3 and there was also some bleed through (ironically). Wow that's odd. Btw, when I called Sony, they basically didn't give a flying shit. I love their products, but I have to say, they've had the worst customer service of the three big wigs this and last gen. If I didn't like their systems so much, it would definitely make me think twice on purchasing things from them. For God's sake I've called 4 times now to get help on syncing my PSP GO to my PS3 to play PS3 games on it over the net, and NO ONE there EACH TIME I called has been able to help me! After 20-30 minutes of intermittent "hold please" as they try to find the directions on how to do it, while coaching me on doing exactly what I've done already despite me saying what I had done 3 or more times, I usually just give up. The last girl who I talked to made me want to scream. I mean, I just wanted a reason to boot my GO up .

Have you set up the PS3 with port forwarding on your router? Or do your PSPgo and PS3 not even acknowledge each other when connected through USB? By the way, if you're looking for stuff to get for your PSPgo, PSPMinis.com just put up a list of the top Minis (based on the newly added user ratings) in the US and European regions. onmode-ky
Reaperman #7 Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) agreed, I didn't think any psp could remote play ps3 games. Just ps1 games as far as I know--and it's not generally too great at doing even that. Remote play is pretty nice for media though. My DS3 controller is black, so it doesn't bleed through, but it sure doesn't feel as nice as my ps2 controllers do. I don't have a sixaxis to compare to. DaytonaUSA #8 Posted July 15, 2010 Yes it can.. I've seen youtube videos of people playing PS3 games on the PSP's through remote play. I'm not sure about PSN games, but whatever game is in the disk drive, you can play remotely. I'll have to look and see the exact errors I'm getting. It's synced, but it's not wanting to connect.. if that makes sense (like, it's registered but not working). There was someone who did a review of it, and showed off Lair being played on the PSP. It played great with no lag, but there was the complaint about the lack of two more trigger buttons which limited the controls in the game (along with a lack of a second joystick of course). I'll get back to you guys when I see what the issues are again that I'm having. ATM I've lost half of the power adapter for my GO, and it's dead right now, so I can't really check. Most games don't allow it, but it worked fine my pixeljunk shooter demo, and peggle. There was a fair bit of lag though, and I was sitting right next the ps3 directly connected to it (vs using my home network)
onmode-ky #10 Posted July 15, 2010 I'm not sure about PSN games, but whatever game is in the disk drive, you can play remotely. This is not correct. All PS1 games are playable via Remote Play, but most PS3 games are not. Here are two resources showing what games are compatible with Remote Play: Wikipedia entry PlayStation.com board thread There is some lag, noticeably more so if you're using over-the-Internet Remote Play, so it's not well-suited for games with fast action. With games like turn-based RPGs, though, it works well. onmode-ky
