RJ #2 Posted July 30, 2010 SoCal, if it's up for debate you need to do Atar-rewind EVERY show & dump the MAME segment. I'll be looking for those 2600 games you mantioned. Then again, so will other listeners.
Parrothead #3 Posted August 3, 2010 SoCal, if it's up for debate you need to do Atar-rewind EVERY show & dump the MAME segment. I'll be looking for those 2600 games you mantioned. Then again, so will other listeners. I will be running Atar-Rewind alot. It's funny because I got quite a bit of positive feedback from the premier run and many had not heard of those games which surprised me a bit. I figured anyone that was listening was going to already know about the featured gems, but I guess not. That is what I was hoping for. I am lining up an interview with the creator of Tunnel Runner too so that should be real interesting.
Parrothead #4 Posted August 3, 2010 (edited) Well, CGE 2010 has come to an end but the interviews we conducted during the event will be fed into our monthly podcasts for the next year or so. We conducted very fun and indepth (1-2 hour) interviews with David Crane & Gary Kitchen, Keith Robinson, Bill Fisher, Michael Meyers, Bob Palaro, Jay Smith, John P Sohl and many more! So stay tuned for what is going to be RetroGamingRoundup 2.0 Edited August 3, 2010 by Parrothead
BydoEmpire #5 Posted August 3, 2010 Can't wait to hear the John Sohl interview. I talked to him for just a minute at CGE 2k7 and thanked him for Astrosmash. That game more than any other made me (and my brother) get into computers in the first place, and subsequently both of our careers. Sometimes I wonder if some of these guys realize what a huge impact they had on peoples' lives (in a positive way, of course). If it wasn't for the Intellivision (and Astrosmash) I might be an accountant or cop or something... who knows...

BydoEmpire #15 Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) I am going to be interview Dick Balaska, creator and programmer for Atari 2600 Tunnel Runner as part of my Atar-Rewind segment of the podcast. Do you guys have any questions for him? Let me know here in this thread and I will ask him I've been reading a lot about 2600 programming lately, and I'd be interested in some technical details of how he used the playfield and sprite graphics to create that game. Not sure how much he'd remember at this point, but maybe there are some clever tricks or techniques he could elaborate on.
