MantaNZ #1 Posted July 21, 2010 (edited) Hi guys, Being a HUGE retro gaming fan, I thought I'd make my own 8 bit inspired shooter. I give to thee Max Vector: Resolution! Just finishing testing and bug fixes right now but should be available in the App Store soon! Ironically though, it's a retro game but requires at least a 3GS. LOL Here are some pics and the trailer: Edited July 21, 2010 by MantaNZ
Hitachi #2 Posted July 21, 2010 looks awesome. might it be possible for an android release?
MantaNZ #3 Posted July 21, 2010 looks awesome. might it be possible for an android release? Definitely thinking about it! Problem is, I use tools that aren't Android compatible so I'd need to start from scratch... I'm waiting to hear from Google about being a beta tester for App Inventor, if I'm successful I'll probably do an Android version :-)
Austin #4 Posted July 21, 2010 Any idea on the price in the app store? I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to iPhone purchases because, even though I have bought dozens upon dozens of games, I find myself rarely playing any of them..
goldenegg #5 Posted July 21, 2010 requires at least a 3GS. This is a shame. Any plans for further optimization to get it working properly on an iPhone 3G?
MantaNZ #6 Posted July 21, 2010 Any idea on the price in the app store? I'm a bit of a stickler when it comes to iPhone purchases because, even though I have bought dozens upon dozens of games, I find myself rarely playing any of them.. It'll be 99c, I think. I know what you mean about too many apps! There are some CRapps out there, too! I'm also thinking of releasing an online version for free... and perhaps a standalone Mac binary. requires at least a 3GS. This is a shame. Any plans for further optimization to get it working properly on an iPhone 3G? I'm doing what I can. basically, I'm not a coder... I used GameSalad, which is an absolutely incredible tool for game creation for people like me (those who can't code). Unfortunately, it's not the most efficient when it comes to CPU usage. I may put a "legacy" mode in that switches off animations etc for older devices but that will be in an update. I'll probably do an iPad version, too. For anyone interested in making their own games, check out www.gamesalad.com (no, I'm not affiliated with them, it's just AMAZING software!). Oh, I should add, I have had the game translated to German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese too!

Austin #9 Posted July 30, 2010 (edited) I just purchased it (Looks like it's $1.99 in the store). Played it for a few minutes. All in all, it seems pretty good. My only complaints (so far): Unable to pause the game. I tried clicking on the player life bar, the score, even tried tapping with two and three fingers at once. Also, please add an auto-fire function. The problem with having to repeatedly tap the iPhone screen to fire is that every time you do so, your ship's movement is interrupted. Also, I'm assuming Extreme Mode is unlockable? I can't seem to select that either. Edited July 30, 2010 by Austin

Autofire is on the cards, as is pause... it was left out for two reasons... VERY difficult to implement in this type of game with the devkit I'm using (trust me, you should read the forums over this one - LOL) and also, now with multi-tasking it's almost redundant... although I will try to incorporate it in a future update. Cheers!

BTW, I am on 3GS, not sure if I will be getting the update, so no multitasking for me..
