Atari 2600 HUGE Game lot on Los Angeles CL

Recommended Posts

Wow - a 1200 game lot? I'd be really curious to see what rarities were in there, or if it was just a lot of common dupes from sumguy's sundrenched and sandy flea market leftovers. lol

This is an interesting story. So this CL ad comes up listings craploads of Atari computers, Amiga Computers, Commodore Computers, 2600, 7800, 5200, etc. I call this guy and we talk for an hour.

Turns out he is sitting on a gold mine and didn't even know it. I had asked initially about the Atari stuff and he let me know someone had already bought it all. I can only imagine what Atari games this guy had and he said most were boxed.

Most of this stuff was old store stock buy outs he said when stores were bascially giving this stuff away 25+ years ago. Ya I know. I am crying now too!!

So I inquire about anything else he may have that he didn't list in the CL ad and this is where it really gets interesting. I asked if he has any Nintendo NES/SNES/Genesis, etc and his answer is yes, that he just hadn't got around to posting any of it yet. So he says he has 40 or so boxes full of boxed NES games and even more boxes full of SNES and Genesis, N64, etc. games.

I ask if he has any old electronic games and specifically if he has an Entex Adventurevision. He answers, he has tons of boxes of electronic games including a pristine boxed Adventurevision and all of the games for it. He had no idea any of this was worth anything!

So I explain to him what he has and so to make a long story short, I am going over to his place next week and helping inventory everything so he can get more accurate prices for it. And get this, I was asking him about the NES games and he thinks he has a "few" of the Nintendo World Championship carts for God's sake!

The cool thing is that since he was going to basically give all of this stuff away he will be happy getting quite a bit more money for this stuff but won't be gouging anyone either so I think there will be some good deals to be had here.

We are planning on going through all this stuff next week when he gets back from out of town and much of it will be placed up for auction on GameGavel.com. I am posting about this over on NintendoAge as well, mainly because of all the Nintendo games he has, but am asking that if there is anything on any of your want lists, please post it here in this thread and before putting anything up for auction I would be happy in getting him in touch with any of you directly to work out your own deals. Like I said, I think he will be very reasonable on his asking prices at this point.

He has nearly every system that has come out from the early 70's through about the Dreamcast and tons of games for all the other more obscure systems too - Bally Astrocade, for example. Tons of Pong systems too!

I am sure I will have much more to report back here after he and I hook up next week. So if there is anything you are looking for post it here and I will be in touch!

I'm sick to my stomach after reading that Parrothead! :woozy:

But... good luck with everything! Pretty sweet the guy has someone like you over there to help him get a fair deal out of it all. :)

If this is legit, it sounds awesome. Maybe I'm cynical, but I've talked to guys like this before who end up being all talk.

On the other hand, if he IS legit I'd be really concerned about waiting a week to connect with the guy, especially since he posted an ad on CL that sounds like a game collector's wet dream. Someone's going to weasel their way in with offers of big money and scoop up the lot.

Best of luck to you, sir. I look forward to hearing the story play out...and some pics would be nice too. ;-)

Ya, you never know. He is out of town until next week when he and I are hooking up. I feel that he thinks he kind of owes me since I filled him on everything so hope that he will be honorable and give me a shot to really help him out. We had a good conversation and I feel we are on the same page, but I know what you mean :) You never know until you get there and actually see it with your own eyes.

And someone already got to the 2600 stuff and according to him there was 1200 games and he was offered $1500 which he took. Makes me think there had to be something good there for someone to start with that high an offer. That could have been a fair price , or not, depending on what he had. But being that alot of it was store stock and it sounded like most of it was boxed, I am sure the buyer made out in the end with that deal.

Would not such a find seriously depress the market price, especially if they were all sold at around the same time?

I excitedly wait for an update on this story!

I'm not near LA, but I did look at this:

http://losangeles.cr...1847716472.html

At the bottom the guy converted a cocktail table into a 5200 machine.

Wow - that's crazy someone would do that to an old Pong table! lol

I don't know if that is an original cocktail cabinet. I could be wrong but it looks homemade. It's retarded anyway...

I see a bunch of CL ads that stats tons of games, but they're either selling pirated carts with a bunch of games in 1, or when you click the ad they have them listed one by one for $5 each.

I'll be honest.. I once sold a few Game Boy Advance multicarts on eBay many many years ago when it was still pretty new. I advertised them as "110 games for the Gameboy Advance". One guy was said the cartridge was neat, but there's not 110 games only 1. I told him I never advertised 110 cartridges. I only sold a few of them and have since discontinued that practice. I was getting them for under $60 bucks a pop and selling them for as much as $180.

Yeah, it is!

But I remember we had several of those old faux woodgrain veneer Pong cocktail cabs back in the day. Shaped octagonally like that too. Who knows, maybe that wasn't an arcade game once. My first thought was that it just seemed a little too ambitious for someone to make from scratch. lol

Well, I say kudos and +1 to you PH for being honest with the guy.

As for the 1200 games, just keep an eye on eBay and elsewhere to see if someone in the LA area starts offering lots and lots of games for sale. Even if there were a bunch of gems in there, it would take a lot of patience and restraint to slowly dribble them into the market.
