What's the best way to revive a game?

Recommended Posts

A update on the Bump'N' Jump from mattel.

I have 2 copies that I have cleaned 3 times each, and I still get a black screen, a yellow striped screen, or a redish/orange stripe screen.

It only does this on the other games if they're not fully pressed down, but the bump'n'jump is fully pressed down. :?

The tip of the contacts looks like there is alot of wear (tapered) so i'm thinking that might be the problem with it, but I feel that maybe something on the circuit board.

Or should I just toss these two copies in the trash, and find another one?

What do you guys think?

David

Send me one so I can fix it and have a Bump N Jump for my collection!!!

Seriously if the tips look worn out on the contacts...then they probably are. You can try to use a pencil eraser to get them really cleaned up...also I have used tuner cleaner on the contacts to get some of the really old black crud off...In rare occasions...I might gut sometime more common and simply replace the roms out.

anyway, I am serious...I wouldn't mind having one of those especially if your just gonna chuck it in the trash!!!

Bump'N'Jump doesn't have a ROM, it is a 'blob' style board. If it's dead it's dead !

I've seen blob roms for GB and NES games, I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to fix thouse, either? I don't have any broken NES/GB carts, just checking.

Inky..nah..the blobs are a black epoxy compound that litterally holds the rom on the board. You can't remove the rom portion without destroying the board or the rom itself since the epoxy would most likely break if you forced it off the board.

I am hoping that all it needs is little more TLC or just my "Magic Hands" (Moycon and Stan statemenst are forth coming on that I am sure) and see what I can do with it.

BTW VideoGameFreek:

It can be assembled or disassembled....I don't care...but send me all the cart pieces...if I have to..I will guy out some common MNetwork cart and house in that...

If you really tried you could probably harm the silicon blob but I doubt that an accidental splotch would do damage to it.
