lonesome_pa #1 Posted November 22, 2002 Last night set a new milestone in my life. I was playing my 2600 when my son came up and starting watching. He seemed really interested in what was going on on the screen. I decided then "oh what the hell" and went to go grab one of the Sesame Street games (he loves to watch Sesame Street, espically Elmo). I grabed Cookie Monster and the kid's controller. I handed him the controller and he was pushing the keys. Mind you, he was pushing the wrong keys at the wrong time, but the fact that he was interested in it gave me a warm feeling inside. It felt like it was me sitting there doing the same thing waaaaay back when. Except, the funny part is, he's only 15 months. But it still does this heart good. Next time, I'll have to take a pic and post it. I just had to share this moment.

King Atari #6 Posted November 22, 2002 Very nice. I can't find anyone in my family to share the same kind of love that I have for the 2600.
MegaManFan #7 Posted November 22, 2002 I might just bring a spare Atari 2600 home for Thanksmas and see if I can get my nephews to play (they're 3 and 6). Wish me luck!

maibock #9 Posted November 22, 2002 The 2600 is awesome for kids to play. Very simple interfaceand and not a steep learning curve. My kids who are now 12 and 10, started out early as well. About a month ago they had a sleepover party with a total of 8 kids. Naturally they were are gathered around the xbox playing Halo. Of course those who were better at it got more turns because of their self imposed "next play plays winner" rules. I decided to set up the 2600 for the "losers" to play while the "better" players played xbox. As you could imagine, they all gravitated to the Atari! I was stuck playing the xbox the rest of the night Ask my kids "Game play or Graphics" and you'll certainly get the proper response
Inky #10 Posted November 22, 2002 When ever I hook my 7800 up, my 3 year old wants to play 'The Car Ride Game'

Flojomojo #14 Posted November 22, 2002 He'll be a 400-pound, non-literate, beer-swilling couch potato before you know it. Huzzah for video games! Nay, but seriously brethren, it's sweet that your child, little as he is, is showing interest in your hobby. Awwww.
liquid_sky #15 Posted November 22, 2002 ok, rarely does something get under my rough skin, but all these stories make me say, you all have really cute sounding kids..
AtariDude #16 Posted November 23, 2002 I had a similar experience with the Atari Lynx. I lent it to my godson and he took it to a party. He started playing some of the games that I had included in the carrying case (14 of them) and then later on the parents were asking me where I got the Lynx since all the kids wanted to play the games on them. This from kids who already have a Nintendo Advance. Just goes to show that a good game will always be a good game.
lonesome_pa #17 Posted November 23, 2002 I took a picture of him playing. When I get the roll developed, I'll post a pic here. Hopefully it comes out. I took it rather quickly.
CaliColts #18 Posted November 23, 2002 My kids love my old games and computers, my daughter dubbed Outlaw as "Cowboy Hat", I think I will always call it that too. Here's a pic of her mugging for the camera by some Apple stuff.
