Chuck D. Head #1 Posted August 2, 2010 Someone was looking for one of these a while back: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=6534961 It's up to over a benjamin now, and lots of shipping as it is heavy, but the item is in Vegas, so a local could save on shipping. Morgan There needs to be a dropjaw emoticon. I can't believe that final price.
shadow460 #3 Posted August 5, 2010 I paid $40 for mine and didn't have to have it shipped anywhere.
christianscott27 #4 Posted August 5, 2010 early in my collecting career a yardsale guy tried to sell me on of these for $50 bucks and I thought I was clever for getting Lethal Enforcers off him for $10. I still kick myself, even though it was a big ugly piece of hardware that replicated a feature I already had.
Blur2040 #5 Posted August 5, 2010 Having a Laseractive shipped pretty much guarantees that you're going to get a broken Laseractive. It happens all the time.
Bruce Tomlin #6 Posted August 5, 2010 The worst thing about the laseractive is that it does NOT park the pickup head properly with a module installed or by using the front panel power switch. Before it is shipped, someone MUST: * turn it off with the power switch (which actually cuts power) * remove the module * turn it on with the power switch * turn it off with the remote control * wait until it has stopped making noise * turn it off with the power switch And it would probably be a good idea to ship it with the module NOT installed, in separate padding. The problem is that with a module installed, the proper laserdisc power off process is disabled, and you can't turn it off with the remote control. ...and if someone in the Austin / San Antonio area is interested in one, I could be convinced to let go of one of my extras. But I'm not shipping one of those bad boys.
Rev. Rob #7 Posted August 5, 2010 This one sold for only $186. I've seen the Sega module go for $200 alone, and the whole unit for $1000 or more. At that price, who cares about shipping costs?
Jimmy Yakapucci #8 Posted August 5, 2010 I got mine a few years ago and had it shipped to me. It appeared to work fine, but I have used it for about 5 minutes in the past 3 years. Typical purchase for me, unfortunately. Thankfully, all it cost me was about $30 for the Genesis games that I traded to get it. JY

If you're responding to my comment, nowhere did I say thing about shipping costs. I'm not shipping one because they're big and fragile. And I really don't like the work involved in packing things up and finding a place to ship them.

Prices have gone way down the last year or so. I have seen several go for under $150.

Except for the collector aspect, I don't personally see the appeal of these unless you actually had lasers discs (which I don't.) Otherwise, wouldn't a CDX be a better way to go? Plus, I'm assuming that you can't use any of the accessories like the 32x or the SMS converter? Don't get me wrong, if I found one at a yard sale or thrift store, I'd grab it if it were under $50!
