jetset #1 Posted August 7, 2010 Working fine one minute, not working right the next... My CV thinks BOTH fire buttons are being pressed! Even when there's no controller plugged in, and as well with about 6 different controllers. It does this with port 1 and 2. I have no clue what this could be...I'm sure I'm going to have to break 'er open and hopefully it's an easy fix (if at all) Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreceated!!!! Sounds like one/both of the controller octal buffer chip has blown in your ColecoVision. There are several threads about this. I have some replacement ICs and will replace it for $20 if you are not inclined to do it yourself.

jetset #4 Posted August 7, 2010 Oh! I hope that's the problem. Those are just socketed chips then? I can easily remove them and replace them myself. I think I have a dead CV lying around somewhere as well!!! Thanks I'll give that a try!

I think I have a dead CV lying around somewhere as well!!! Thanks I'll give that a try! They are not socketed. I add a socket when I replace them. If you do it yourself, be careful not to damage the traces on the board when removing the ICs.
