José Pereira #1 Posted August 11, 2010 Hi. I started some YouTube finding... Anything from C64 and got Rick Dangerous. Then I remembered our A8 port Joe's Adventure. (Totally of Topic, but anyone here played it and see if have other Rick's alike Levels like Egypt,...?? Than I start thinking what would you prefer (Past, Present or Future): 4/5 colours and 2 Multicolour Sprites in 2:1 ratio (like Joe's Adventure and mostly of the Polish Games) OR 1:1 and lot's of 2colours in each Char using PMs. underlays. There are "trillions!..." complete Game Maps of almost all this Games at World of Spectrum. Probably most of them can be done like this on A8. I tried some on the past and possible (you saw Stormlord, for ex.) and Tezz is doing a great job at Manic Miner conversion. Just as an ex.: Jet Set Willy (original) turn into an awnfull 2:1 on A8 and could have been a beautifull IMHO like Tezz's Manic Miner... You could redesign all the Gfxs. to 5colours and Dlis. but you couldn't get the pixels like they are on the original. (How will it look Dizzy's in 2:1? , how will you get all that Egypt symbols on Rick Dangerous,...) And now for coders: All the Screens directly ported with some PMs. underlaying, Soft Sprite+PMs. (2routines) for Player&Enemys to ones like XXL (or others...) that know about Z80 wouldn't be difficult, or is? Could we get some "almost instant" speed Ports? Just some thoughts. As always would like to ear your opinions. (Don't worry I will not start to Post all G2F Screens/Maps of all Zx Games into here but I have the temptation to do it , I have to admit ) Why all this talk? Because we are at the "Silly season" Greetings to all. José Pereira.
