Server Not Responding

On every Source game I have like: GMOD, HL2, Portal, and HL2DM, every time I try to join a server, it says server not responding. It used to work, and it works on my laptop, but not on my desktop. sometimes the server selection box doesnt even refresh.

 

Does anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?

I figured out what the problem was

 

It was a stupid program running in the backround, Compaq Connections Agent. I can only guess that it was some stupid compaq program preinstalled on this computer. I went to msconfig and killed it, no more startup for it...
