building atmel programmer

hello, i need build this atmel programmer for programm sio2sd chip.. i need lpt cable?

when i built it, where i connect other side? to sio2sd?

You just need to wire the parallel cable to a six-pin female header and attach it to the male header on the board in the location and orientation shown in the picture. I built one exactly like this and it works perfectly. The oscillator and all other components in the diagram you posted are already on the SIO2SD board and the power is supplied through the SIO port.

ok, so what next? only connect it to sio2sd? atari must be on power? or?

Plug in the SIO2SD as normal. Connect the programming cable to the PC and to the header on the SIO2SD PCB. Now power on the Atari. Then run the software: it should say ISP detected, then you can calibrate it, etc... it's all quite simple, providing the cable works.

No. This is only good for certain serially programmable types.

 

The old EPROMs were parallel and generally needed higher than standard voltages for the programming process.

 

On top of that, EPROM as opposed to EEPROM needs the UV erase process carried out first.

Old topic i know, but i cant seem to find a female header pin anywhere. Does anyone know where i could order one from?
