Has eBay changed Rarity into Expensivness not Avaiability ?

Recommended Posts

Seems Quadrun, Waterworld, Q'berts cubes,...are no longer rare, just expensive. Maybe as they are no longer rare the price will come down for us less affluent types; or maybe I am just dreaming about owning Quadrun. :P

I believe most of these carts are just making the rounds and people regret paying too much for it, hence re-selling them, trying to make a profit. So in a sense I think they are still rare but getting more expensive. Also don't forget that all items on eBay sell higher during the Christmas season.

I am sure you are right about the same units coming back up again and again and the price going up. But if they are usually avaiable, what is so rare about them ?

:?:

Maybe we should say rare in the wild. Ebay has changed everything when it comes to collecting.

If you REALLY want the game itself, www.Hozervideo.com would do a repro cart for somewhere between $11 and $22. It wouldn't be the original, but at least you'd have a copy of a great game.

I don't know about rarity with any of these games anymore. I'm sure some people are simply relisting what they recently won, but there always seems to be multiple copies of each of these titles up all the time. There are two 5200 games similar in rarity: Meteorites and Bounty Bob Strikes Back that are almost never up on EBAY.

I think people are searching more and more for these carts, and selling them on ebay for big profit. Anyone who's been checking ebay and remembers they have a box of Atari stuff in the basement has probably looked for one of the rare carts.
