Devin #1 Posted September 1, 2010 Hey everyone, I plan to work on K.O. Atari as my next game. This will be an improved version of K.O. Cruiser with longer health bars and, most importantly, 1 or 2 players. Anyway, I created some character sprites that can represent different genres for the good 'ole 2600. If one is missing, let me know and I can come up with something. So far, I have 7 sprites: FBI Agent - fights for E.T. and all other maligned games Baker - Pressure Cooker, Burger Time and all other games that feature food Paddle - This one *will* be the champ. It fights for, well, all pong-like games Thief - Kaboom, Keystone Capers (and perhaps Froggo Games given they ripped off people Jumper - All the platform games such as, well, Pitfall The Sarg - Okay, I love how this one turned out! He will fight for Combat, Air-Sea Battle, etc... He might be right before the champ. Spaceman - All the space games The challenge, at this point, is coming up with some fun special moves for each character. I want to make the sounds and specials based somewhat on the games they are fighting for. For instance, the FBI Agent can have a move where he walks to the back of the screen. He then runs at you. If you don't hit him, he steals a phone piece health.

Devin #5 Posted September 2, 2010 Love the characters! How about Bentley Bear? ...the dragon from Dragonfire and any other game with dragons involved? ...the Kangaroo from -- well -- Kangaroo? We can definitely do that. I'm not sure if will be better to use a broader brush with generic sprites.
Pixelboy #6 Posted September 2, 2010 How about the guy from H.E.R.O., with the helicopter backpack? Instantly recognizable, I'd say.
+Gemintronic #7 Posted September 2, 2010 Oh man, character idea time? How about a Duckbill Dragon who "punches" with a sword and blocks with a bridge? Rhindle Roundhouse? Easter Egg Uppercut? Knubberrub Knockout? Magnet Mauler? Robinett Rib Rocker?

Bentley Bear! #9 Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) How about Bentley Bear? GIVE ME LOVE! :lust: ( ) Oh yes, the kangaroo and the dragon from the beta versions of KO Cruiser and A.V.G.N. KO Boxing!!! Edited September 2, 2010 by Bentley Bear!
Chuck D. Head #10 Posted September 2, 2010 I think characters from specific games would be the best. I agree. The general character you made were well thought out and look nice, but something about bringing specific characters in from other games appeals to me more. It would be kind of like giving a Smash Brothers treatment to the Atari universe. Morgan

Devin #16 Posted September 4, 2010 After reviewing the list of Taboo Trademarks, we better stay clear from a "specific" character. It might also be a good idea to call this "K.O. Arcade Legends" instead.
Legend #17 Posted September 8, 2010 After reviewing the list of Taboo Trademarks, we better stay clear from a "specific" character. It might also be a good idea to call this "K.O. Arcade Legends" instead. The characters don't have to have the exact name. "Bintly Bear" maybe? Although not atari, one of my favorite characters I'd like to see would be the dog from duck hunt. Who hasn't wanted to punch that giggling pooch right in the snoot at one point or another?
Miss 2600 #18 Posted September 8, 2010 How about the guy from H.E.R.O., with the helicopter backpack? Instantly recognizable, I'd say. He might be confused with "The Fan Man" since it's boxing I like the characters you made Devin!
+Curious Sofa #19 Posted September 27, 2010 Love all the new characters, specifically the Baker, the Thief and the Spaceman. Whatever you do, PLEASE make sure these are included! And the Kangaroo and Dragon are just as funny. Great work!
