Crazy Climber #1 Posted September 2, 2010 So far I would say it's amazing for a DS game. I am only 15-20 hours in so far but the only real gripe would be lack of music variety (although the music I have heard is great) Overall I really impressed. Great Story, nice character options. No real forced grinding battles since you can see the enemies. Anyone else care to chime in? Thoughts? Opinions?
stalepie #2 Posted September 3, 2010 I played through the main game and thought it was great. I especially liked the ending and some of the short stories were better than others (favorites: marionette and rock town). I was annoyed originally with the slow framerate and fuzzy graphics, however I got used to it, and a lot of it looks rather good, especially the way the towns are designed and the enemies and their animations. I like the music too. I've been playing Dragon Quest lately, having never really played the series until last year. I beat DQ5 and 4 for the DS (the remakes) and recently I played through Dragon Warrior in emulator and was greatly impressed. Right now I'm playing Wizardry on Apple II to get closer to where it all began. A number of people on the Gamefaqs board have expressed their opinions and talked at length about where they are in the game, how many hours they've put in, and basically everything else. There's a ton of threads there (over a 1000). Some people have played the game upwards of 300 hours now due to all the post-game content, but I decided to put off that aspect of the game (what many people call the best part) until later when I feel less inclined to explore older stuff. MagitekAngel #3 Posted September 3, 2010 I've actually still got my DS copy of Dragon Quest 5 to play through.
King_Salamon #4 Posted September 5, 2010 I played DQ 4 on the DS earlier this year.. it was a nice trip down memory lane... DQ 9 is amazing.. I'm about 35 hours in and it's been a lot of fun. I'd like to find someone locally and that way you can have guests visit the inn... apparently there are is some add on content available if you have so many visitors etc. What I'm finding strange is the rarity levels of the items I've found... I must be getting close to the end of the game and so far, all I've found are 2 star rarity items. I thought I would have at least a 3 star or maybe a 4 by now... quite strange. Mind you, there's the alchemy pot that I've pretty much ignored so far. Anyway, it's a lot of fun and it's going to be another agonizing wait for DQ 10... on the Wii I believe. (Good thing I'll have Fallout New Vegas to keep me busy! )
