The Last Starfighter Easter Egg?

So when having some friends over yesterday, we got to talking about some of my Atari gear, and I turned on one of the 800XEs I got with the SIO2SD connected, loaded up "Last Starfighter" and he really got into the game.... At one point, recharging at the sun in the Rylos' system, I noticed a familiar looking spacecraft warping by, probably doing a slingshot effect....

 

Anybody know anything about the appearance of the USS Enterprise? Like what specifically triggers it? Anything happen if you try to shoot at it? etc?

I've seen it years ago and I'm fairly sure it's documented.

 

I forget the means to trigger it, but I think you might have to hang around until the point of your ship melting for it to appear.

PS: Never saw that Enterprise, and I've been playing this game for decades...

Yep I saw it when I did my write up of the game. Just one of those random things I think, I don't think there's a way to trigger it.

Yeah I hadn't ever seen it, or remembered seeing it until just the other evening. Fun stuff though!
