Animan #28 Posted September 9, 2010 How many Games by Apollo could not be found anywhere in the continental lithosphere in the Hawaiian area with cookies and javascript enabled to view it as a starting point to determine whether the proposed effect would be effective? Sorry, Google Scribe is too fun . Here's a real (but not too hard) questions: What game did Pat Roper play that got him interested in video games? +save2600 #34 Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) ^ Not cool. (whoops Brandon, you beat me to it!) lol Anyway... growing up in Libertyville, IL - the only place I ever remember seeing Apollo games for sale were on smallish cardboard endcaps at our local Eagle grocery store. I picked up Infiltrate and Space Chase (not at the same time mind you) there shopping with my Grandmother. They were cheap, like $10ea. IIRC. Maybe a little more, but I remember thinking they were very affordable and how cool it was to see Atari games at the grocery store! Brilliant marketing if you ask me. Come to think of it, Data Age also had a display there too, but I remember seeing them at other toy stores & drug stores (Osco had a great Atari display back in the day). Maybe it's just my memory, but Apollo games seemed more elusive. Loved and still love Infiltrate. Not sure why all the hate for that game. After a few minutes of Space Chase OTOH, I thought it was too simple and repetitive. Great graphics and sounds though, but I do remember feeling a little "slighted" after purchasing that with my hard earned money. lol Were Games By Apollo marketed at other grocery stores across the nation or was that just a Chicagoland thing? What other grocery or regular stores were they to be found? Edited September 10, 2010 by save2600

Lord Thag #38 Posted September 10, 2010 This is a weird thread If a mime were walking in a woods, and no one else was around, how many copies of Lost Luggage would it take to cut down a tree without summoning the Sasquatch? What other grocery or regular stores were they to be found? Before the crash Apollo actually advertised in the Sunday papers. I think I still have a copy of the advertisement. It was like buy one get $, buy two get $$, buy three get $$$. Like other Apollo actions, this was pretty dumb as not as many grocery stores sold $30 games as you may think. So were those "probably 15" just given away? Why make them if they hadn't been paid for? Conversely, did anyone pay for a copy, and if Apollo never sold any, did those who paid get their money back?
