boff
I was weeding the game collection and found my 5200 Trak-ball. I'd totally forgotten it was unopened, but the seal is a line of tape from the store. Was this common in the 5200 era, or would this have come from Atari with shrink-wrap? tz101
There was no shrink wrap from Atari's factory. The tape looks like it was applied to the box at the checkout so store security would not stop you on the way out the door. It was never intended to seal the box while it was on the store shelf. Awesome. It has been so long since I'd purchased something where the store did that I'd totally forgotten it was a thing.
tz101
BTW: Why don't you crack that thing open? It is awesome on Centipede and Missile Command.

Divya16
BTW: Why don't you crack that thing open? It is awesome on Centipede and Missile Command. It may not work that good if he cracks it open (especially with a hammer). Perhaps, just removing the staple that keeps the box closed and then using it may be better. cyberfluxor
Something tells me Centipede and Missile Command are not among his game selection. The box appears to be in spectacular shape and bet the trackball just glides, if everything was stored properly of course. So is this "old new stock" discovered in the closet or was this picked up years ago at a second hand shop? I'm curious as to if you purchased this back in the day and just never used it. I also got one trackball that's sealed in box. I have a few others that are open so never needed to open this sealed box. The seal is just a big staple; it's not shrink-wrapped. I guess that's how they were sold.
