What do u think is the hardest/easiest games on defalt settings?

 

hard: kaboom A, (i can barly get to 2500) (i always get pissed off at it but i find myself coming back to it)

 

easy: asteroids

Asteroids for the most part is pretty easy, since the rocks float around on the sides of the screen, instead of at you. Still a whole lot of fun.

I agree, Kaboom A is very hard! I'm still trying to catch Todd Rodgers

 

Laser Blast is pretty easy, and boring!

I will say this to the day I die. Solaris is the hardest game for the system, but I still love it. I keep saying that one of these days I will finally get through the army of Cobra ships and to the end.

I have several copies of Solaris for NTSC... It was my favorite game back in the day. And isn't Marble Craze insanely hard too?

 

I have to agree with Lazer Blast being the easiest game... Even when I was 6 years old I could play it with out loosing a single life.

I'm not sure about hardest, but Space Jockey can't be far from being the easiest. If you lose all your lives in Space Jockey you're either not trying very hard or you're less than 5 years old.

The upper levels of Marble Craze are insanely hard (level 15, for instance) but the begining levels are easy, once you get the hang of the controls.

 

One of the things that makes Marble Craze a great game is the gradual progression of difficulty of the levels. Once you get to level 8 or 9, it will take time to master each level and move on. But you will have a great time doing it. Getting through all 18 levels is a supreme challenge.

Any of the games by Mythicon (Starfox, FireFly, Sorcerer) are ridiculously easy (and pointless).

Gravitar is one of the hardest for me. I CANNOT keep that ship from crashing into stuff. NO MATTER WHAT. I can get to the second galaxy, and then my game is over. And yet I still play.

 

There are so many easy games, Journey Escape for one, Space Jockey, Laser Blast (at least in that game I have been killed).

I agree with the Kaboom! vs. Asteroids. Sometimes I fool myself into thinking I can play a 'quick' game of Asteroids.

 

I think there are some easier games: Super Baseball (1 Player) and Word Zapper come to mind.

It's really nice to hear that. I spent a lot of time trying to get the difficulty progression right. I watched a lot of different people of different ability play it. 15 is really hard, but it's possible to master it. I can often make it though without falling off now. And there is a little trick to doing that *really* tough screen near the end of the level (which actually wasn't planned, but I figured out in testing.)

 

How far have you made it? The farthest I've gone is about half way through 18. One of these days I'll finish...

 

I think Merlin's Walls is one of the hardest games I've played. And I totally agree with Laser Blast being way too easy. I think Chopper Command is really easy too. I scored enough to earn the patch the first time I played it!

Berzerk default game is also very easy with the amount of men you keep getting

 

Asteroids is too easy

I think Phoenix is also not too hard

 

 

I found Defender II to be a bit challenging as well as Solaris.

The key to Berzerk is to play level 9 because you don't get any free lives. It makes it challenging again.

Not being a champ at your own creation isn't unusual. I haven't played enough Skeleton to get through more than the first level. And that's with the direction indicator on!

However I suppose if you need a game that is insanely difficult you could go with untesting the levels that even the developer is not skilled enough to do.

Basic Math I hope is the easiest game out there. I agree with space jockey as incredibly easy and extremely stoopid. I think they made a defender clone without any of the stuff that made defender challenging. The hardest game is the game I despise the most, Swordquest Earthworld. I want to find the person who actually found more than three clues in this insane and mind numbing "game". Fireworld as well.

Pac-man, Asteroids, Laser Blast are insanely easy.

 

I can't think of any games that are really hard for the 2600. i'd have to guess Breakout because it is difficult to master.

However I suppose if you need a game that is insanely difficult you could go with untesting the levels that even the developer is not skilled enough to do.

 

I tested the entire game *many* times with infinite lives and time on. I usually had to test in cheat mode so I could play through the whole game in 2 player mode by myself. I chose to make the last level a little harder than my own ability since I know there are better gamers than me out there and it would still give me something to shoot for. But I did breeze through the last level a couple of times in cheat mode, so one of these days I'm sure I'll finish it legitimately.

Starting from level 1, I've reached the video pinball level (11?) a few times.

Many of these games had easy levels for little kids to play and enjoy. The "adult" level on Laser Blast is game 4 for instance. It'll keep you on your toes. This was the level you had to play on to earn your patch back in the day. Freeway was game 3 for a patch, Skiing was game 3... just to name a few that were far to easy on game 1. Take your game to another level! Difficult games to max the score: Kaboom!, Stampede, Pressure Cooker to name a few. One day I shall defeat them!

Starting from level 1, I've reached the video pinball level (11?) a few times.

 

STILL stuck on Marble Golf! I can play 1-9 all the way without dropping a marble, and then Marble Golf kills me! MUST......WORK......HARDER! I still LOVE this game!
