I haven't used it, so I don't know how low-res the drawings can get, but that sounds exactly like the Paint of Persia graphics editor.

Thanks. I'll download it later tonight and see if it works for Atari sprites. If somebody does it before me, please let us know how you like it.

i've used a similar method to the spinning kick.

i googled the sprite set of ik+ and tried to transfer the moves to the character.

for the walk i've tried your tip. i've never noticed that the speed in yt-videos is reducable or increaseable.

the observation shows:

when the fighter walks the torso is completely static.

only the feets are moving. the tricky part is that the backwards leg is crossing the other leg.

and this is my result of my try of your youtube method.

walk.gif.79546964dfdd3e9d5a3c898cf0db3451.gif

this is my best outcome. but it looks that the fighter goes backward.

what do you think?

The 3rd frame was the issue. He was moving his back leg further forward, and as a result his leg appears to extend backwards noticeably giving the appearance that he is also moving backwards:

PMR, thanks a lot for your help. your sprites motivate me to start this new project.

i've played around furthermore with your yt technic an studied the sprite sets.

so i designed the

footSweep.gif.223b12f7cff07213c479466f344a5ea8.gif foot sweep

i don't know if it is good enough for the game.

i had the idea to this mini ik+ when i was a teenager, now i am 47.

the fact that i never started with it always failed due to the limited graphics.

this pixel arts are more than good enough!

now i think it is time to write some asm code and see how it looks.

i certainly have a long way to go before i can show something.

if you are interested i can pm you when i have something presentable.

thanks again ?

You're very welcome! :) That foot sweep looks awesome! It actually looks like he's getting down and sweeping the leg... I did it for the Karate Kid memes. :D I'd love a PM when you make some programming progress on this. Never too late to be a kid again... ?

Stay Strong ?,

Hey gang! Here are some RPG type characters and monsters done in 8x16 with basic animations, long-range attack sprite/Drop. The only Drop sprite I have is the Egg, but I imagine that if it's not destroyed, shortly after the Egg is dropped it hatches into another Giant Goose... that's a problem. :D :

Still Bored I tells ya! And therefore I have created even more RPG type monster enemy sprites for yall! ?

Much appreciated! FYI, I used elements of the xorn sprite to improve my "shadow orb" monster in my WIP:

The final installment of Bubble Bobble Sprites... Yes, I know there are more sprites in the game, but like Nintendo... I'm gonna leave a few things out.

Enjoy,

What an amazing set of sprites, @PAC-MAN-RED!

I've been experimenting with the protagonist sprites (Bub and Bob), in order to get them more recognizable when displaying on a '2600.

Below you see the original NES sprite on the left, in the middle the conversion by @PAC-MAN-RED and on the right my best attempt so far.

If you posted the one in the middle by itself, I'd have a hard time figuring out what it's supposed to be, but your version on the right seems to be instantly recognizable.

@PAC-MAN-RED awesome work!

I have searched the thread for some explosion animation. But I couldn't find anything here or elsewhere that would suit my purposes.

I am looking for some explosion animations for my C.A.V.E. Apocalypse bB game:

especially for this Helicopter (multicolored sprite double wide):

Helicopter.png.2765b745a6b6e84b90fe3326c8631011.png

and these enemies (single color sprite single wide):

Tank.png.0d00cb629bf90766a9002ebaf3e7f40a.png

Air-Missiles.png.705a7d7c9267fb8f2156849e9a80b304.png

the wide and color(s) might be changed during the explosion.

If you (or anyone else) would like to try your (his) hand at this, I would be very happy.

Inspired by a novel published in 1984 by Scott Siegel - Beat the Devil was written targetting kids to warn against videogame
addiction. I read the book as a kid and I never forgot it because it was about my favorite past time - Videogames.

Summary:
"Doug is a video game fanatic, and his best friend Warren and girlfriend Maura are not too thrilled to hear that Doug's dad
has bought a computer. Will they ever see Doug again, or will he spend every minute of free time closeted in his dad's
computer room? Unfortunately, it's worse than Warren and Maura think-Doug has purchased a game called "Beat the Devil" from a
mysterious store he'd never noticed before. The graphics are incredible: a pure white heart is battling pitchforks and fires
from hell. If the heart survives long enough, the devil himself will appear to battle the heart, and only if the heart shoots
a white lightning bolt into each of the devil's eyes, can the heart win! Doug becomes obsessed with winning this difficult
game! Soon Doug is acting strangely-picking fights, staying up all night to play the game, missing dates with Maura. When
Warren visits a fortune teller, she warns him that he will soon have to risk his life for his friend, who is being consumed
by the devil. Warren launches into action, bringing Maura to Doug's house to help him. They see that every time Doug plays
"Beat the Devil" and loses, he loses a little more of himself to the devil. Can Warren and Maura help Doug beat the game and
stop the evil force that is devouring his soul?"

And without further ado, I present to you the conceptual sprites, animations and mockup gameplay screen I created.

Spritesheet:

There are alternate versions of The Devils hand, Hellfire and The Cross.

P.S. - If any programmers wish to create this game for real, I would be more than happy to assist with such an endeavor.

I fully admit that this is some thread necro but this thread has been a great resource and those are some cool sprites.  :)    Thanks to everyone for contributing to this thread collection of free sprites to use in homebrew games as I've definitely been inspired to adapt some of the ones posted here.

Eariler today, I asked a question if making a freeware Sonic fangame for the 2600 is okay.

The plan is to massively retool @Sprybug's Princess Rescue code (It's okay he gave me permission)

Here's the graphics for the planned game, it's based on the Sonic cartoon & NOT the games.

I don't see why it would be a problem.  Sega seems to be a lot more lenient than Nintedo with their IPs and when I made Zippy and Albert had it for sale here on the store, we never got any pushback.  Wish you the best of luck and I hope my code can help make it a possibility.
