Atari Lynx AC Adapter Question

Newbie Atari Lynx owner here. Just got a Lynx II with no power supply. System works on batteries and was wondering is there any other power supply from a different handheld work with it? Got a whole box of different ones but not sure where to go from there. Anyone help as to what else will work. Searched the web but couldn't find a definative answer. Thanks.

The one of the Sega Game Gear does not - diameter of the Lynx´ socket is too small

Was going to post a nmew topic on here, but this post works...

I was wondering along these same lines.

I know the voltage: 9vdc, 1a.

I know the center pin is positive.

I was wondering if someone could give me the plug diamater.

I've seen some out there for 2.1mm and 2.5mm , wondering if they would work.

I was looking on the Lynx II and on the case it says 9 volts DC 3.0 W. Was looking at ac adapters on ebay and the atari one's say output is 9 volts dc 1.0 amp. Why the difference?

I tried two standard universal power supplies today. One was a Jensen set at 9V center positive (600mA) and it works fine. Tried another generic at 9V center positive (500mA) and that works fine too!

 

I am pretty certain most universals with a 500mA and above rating (not to exceed 1A) set at 9V with center (tip) positive (VERY IMPORTANT) will work just fine. The Jensen is available at any Best Buy location.

I was wondering if I should solder a new (fitting) plug to the Sega Game Gear one...the specifics (voltage, Ampere) would just be allright.

You can go above 1A, it's 9V that mustn't be exceeded.

I use a 7.5V transformer, but it's plugged to the batteries contacts, not the normal psu socket.

did an atari lynx did it come in the box origianlly or was it a seprate buy?

My Lynx 2 did not come with one. There would be no room for it in the box.

I bought a nib lynx ac adapter from best electronics years ago. Interestingly, the picture of the ac adapter on the box (which is like a hand drawing rather than a photo) does not match the shape of the actual ac adapter.

I have this one then I bought one with a 5 foot cord and a right angle plug in.

 

It won't let me link just search for lynx 1&2 compatible power supplies.
