JacobZu7zu7
I checked the three-weeks contest, and it looks good. My scores and placements are correct.
zylon
This one wouldn't be half bad if you could use the disc on the 2nd controller for firing.
gotroot801
My first game of T:DD in about 25 years - just got an Intellivision II last week. My second game of T:DD? 800 points. There will be no photo.
JacobZu7zu7
1,623,350 Could have gotten even further, but had to defend against 3 Gold WARRIORS at once, and when I killed 1, another just came around in it's place... couldn't keep up. Remember, after 1 million a gold warrior doesn't shoot in runs after you, and if it touches you, you're history! About 5 hits with a "disc" slows it down and kills a gold warrior. JacobZu7zu7
EXCUSE ME WHILE I COLLAPSE... I was shaky by the end of it, and could have gone further but for some reason I ran left, but Gold warrior sucked into me, without any signs it was going to happen, rats! 2,221,
JacobZu7zu7
Keep in mind guys, only about 2-3 days left to play Tron DD. :!: :!: :!: A few tips, Stay in the middle, as much as you can (when the warriors first enter)... when the new level starts, run in a circle or back 'n forth around the middle area of the Room. This give you the running start to avoid any early discs flying at you when the warriors arrive. Try to keep the doors open as much as you can, even during tough levels I still run around and shoot the doors open, it actually helps me stay calm and dodge the discs when I need to. The doors are vital in the 300,000ks range because each time you run through a door you get your hit points back! Doesn't matter if the doors blue or green, just as long as you can pass through to the other side. The recognizer shows up at every corner but (under/below) so, stay in the middle again so you don't get smashed by it... also try to memorize where the height of your standing position. I stand on the black line or just barely below it when the recognizer shows up (on the right side). When it comes from above or west... I stay about 2 steps above the black line, I knock out the recognizer about 80% of the time now.
gotroot801
2,221,500 Great. Now I have to figure out how to explain to the wife why I have to spend all my free time in front of the Intellivision this weekend. I find that if I don't hit the Recognizer with the first or second shot and have to dodge the paralyzer I have a hard time getting in the right spot. Once I get higher scores I tend to leave one warrior on the screen at all times just so I can keep the doors open. JacobZu7zu7
My score:48000 Very impressive JacobZu7zu7 Thanks man. I didn't use the block once either. I find blocking to be difficult to time properly. When I tried it, I just get hit with crossfires of flying discs. lol. I kept the doors open and used the doors as much as possible. doctorclu
31400 is all Ive managed, never really played this game much as a kid. Played this bunches as a kid. One of my favorite games. Here in a snow day from work I re-discovered the Intellivision and played this game to 5,860,750 I know it is too late for the competition, but mentioned here for the fun of it. (Might have to get the Cuttle Cart so I can play here.)
1980gamer
5 Million + Wow, I think I hit 2 mil a few times. Do you play aggressive or passive? I mean, do you try to get the recognizer to come out ( clear the round ) or do you leave one enemy on the screen to keep your doors open etc.? I like to play aggressive, it is fun that way. Though, I do see how you can get some huge scores playing a more passive style. I just don't have the stamina to play that long with little fun. Astrosmash is the ultimate challenge for me... I'll play every few years, get about half a million and have hundreds of extra ships. I just can't continue playing.... I don't know how anyone can flip a game? I guess I have A.D.D. or something. LOL Wait, I did flip pinball. But that game is as fun with 0 points as it is with 500,000. Keeps you on your toes. Again... Very impressive score! doctorclu
Very passively. I break the discs of the three I keep alive. The discs are worth as much as the men.

(Might have to get the Cuttle Cart so I can play here.) I like this game a lot. Probably a top 3 in my Intellivision favorites. 5 Mill. great score! As for my playing style... I keep as many doors open as possible for a quick espace from warriors "deadly discs"... and I take out the Recognizer as quick as I can, when it arrives. If you stand at certain places on the floor and memorize where... you can take down the big guy almost everytime. I don't wait or play defense, I try to smash warriors as soon as I can. I also don't use the block option, it's too tricky, I end up getting knocked out from one of the warrior angle shots.
1980gamer
Blocking: I used to go to the bottom of the screen and pick a corner to tuck into. That is a fairly safe location. Can't get hit from bellow, and a lot of the angle shots don't seem to reach you. This is my way of getting past higher level rounds when I fail to time the recognizer correctly. Other than that spot, I will also use the left and right doors to get the tracking white disc out of commission. once they shoot at you, you can go back and forth while the disc tracks you, it will become level with the normal blocking position. I also only try to take out the recognizers from the side. Do you guys do the sides or the top? I pretty much have the timing down, when it comes out from the lower right. I am okay from the right, but the top down.. I loose a few doors for sure. I have a ton of hours on this game. I guess it is top 5. Bi-planes, MLB, NFL, NBA, B-17, Bump n Jump, Utopia! Wow, this gets tough. How do I leave out Burger Time, Auto Racing, Motocross, Astrosmash......... I guess it might be easier to make a never play list! LOL That would be NHL and Slapshot! Hockey is the game of my youth, it should be a fast game, but I guess, in 1980, Californian's believed you did play on ice, but in sneakers instead of skates! painful game to play! LOL. Of course they only had the LA Kings as a template!

Of course they only had the LA Kings as a template! Oh the corners, I always avoided those, but if you block, that would be a good spot. I take out recognizers, by left or right side... there's not a lot of time to hit them from the top, and that spider web really moves fast. So, what I do.. is memorize where to stand... (two steps above the black line (right side of recognizer), and also a half/step below it on the left side) and toss the disc till it "hits", and I knock out the recognizer about 80% of the time. Nice games list Utopia, Biplanes, and Burgertime! My favs are odd pics, Vectron/Mouse Trap/Tron Deadly Discs/Tron Solar Sailer... etc! Others I been enjoying, Sub Hunt/Lady Bug/Mission X/Space Armada/Bowling/Space Spartans/Horse Racing. My dissapointments, Dracula/Motocross/Dungeons & Dragons (both) I tried but I can't get into the D&D games... somethings a bit plain about both. I don't know what it is. Though for the year ('82), they look amazing with rich gameplay. Motocross, I was hoping for a fast paced bike race. It's more a slow simulator, with choppy screen scrolling, and controls are too sensative to master. Dracula, the gameplay is just knocking on doors and chasing people in a circle to bite 'em, all houses and people look the same every level. Then u gotta' get back to the graveyard before sunrise. Doesn't matter how fast you play, eventually the sun beats you. It's also silly how you can knock on the first doors house over and over... and not need to walk down the sidewalk (hardly) at all. Controls seem fussy too, hard to manage it.
