CRTGAMER #26 Posted October 10, 2010 Back to the R.O.B. I took a quick look, it has everything R.O.B. related except the part that holds the nintendo controller with the button levers. I got R.O.B. with clean battery compartment and cover and both "hands" 2 Gyros Motor with clean battery compartment and cover The part with 2 stations for idle gyros I needed a Gyro, I would have paid the $6 for the stuff minus the R.O.B. itself. Now, can the atari generate the video signal to control a R.O.B.? I did a quick look and cannot find any details on what videl signal it responds to. I think you meant the NES. A screen flash of a NON HD CRT for Robs eyes to pickup on. The Gyromite game cart has an option screen to test individual functions of Rob thru the tube TV. I would like to find out what signal triggers the R.O.B. and see if the Atari 2600 can generate that. I can't find any documentation on what is going on that it "sees". Not sure, all I see is that green flash. Got to be more then just a particular color screen. I just picked up a third NES controller at the swap meet, now to mod the Rob? Maybe I'll try to record them and play back frame by frame. Hopefully it is something like a flash of a specific color.
fiddlepaddle #30 Posted October 12, 2010 I just love reading about cross-platform compatibility projects! (and it's nice to see this thread evolve in the direction of actually relating to the 2600 after all)
OldAtarian #31 Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) You should be careful. It might be the same color flashes that have been known to cause seizures. I always knew ROB was evil! That's why they stopped selling them! Edited October 12, 2010 by OldAtarian

CRTGAMER #33 Posted October 17, 2010 If anyone cares. THANKYOU! An update on a R.O.B. mod. In honor of NES birthday, attempting to do a direct control R.O.B mod with a NES controller. So far looks like a reverse of polarity to change the direction of the arms. Three motors. 1. Up and Down 2. Rotate Left and Right. 3. Open and Close Arms. Two of the motors are behind the arms, a pain to put back together. Glad I pulled that arm cover with R.O.B. upside down. Tricky, half the switches would have to be positive, other half negative. A work around is using Diodes, looks like there are some resistors attached on each motor terminal. The biggest downfall is isolating the individual PCB traces in the base of the robot. A decision if I should "cut the cord" on R.O.B.'s original function of using the sensor screen flash in Gyromite? Maybe if I do this, will see if the Armitron dexterity will beat R.O.B.'s speed. OldAtarian #34 Posted October 17, 2010 Can you get two Armitrons to have an arm wrestling contest?
eshu #35 Posted October 17, 2010 This might help: http://web.archive.org/web/20070220234056/http://veget.dynu.com/test/index.html Was sure I'd seen some info on the screen flashes somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find it...
