Tempest #1 Posted October 7, 2010 What monitor is being shown in this picture of the Mega STE? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/01/Atari-mega-ste.jpg At first glance it appears to be a PTC monitor because of the stand which fits the case, but that was only for the TT and Falcon. I've never seen this monitor before, unless it's some sort of aftermarket stand. I'd like to get one of these. Tempest

Not sure who made them for Atari. Phillips would be a guess, possibly Viking in fact I would lean towards Viking because they had a 19 inch monitor upgrade for the ST(e)/Mega out at that time, too. Scroll down to the picture of the TT http://yescrew.atari.org/eng/atari.htm Edited October 8, 2010 by OldAtarian
tjlazer #3 Posted October 8, 2010 Nope that is not the 19" TT monitor. It is a B&W mono monitor released in Europe for the Mega STE (and others of course since it's an ST monitor) Don't think they were sold in North America.
Tempest #4 Posted October 8, 2010 Aww... It's a shame they didn't make a color monitor for the STE that fit the case. Tempest
crash #5 Posted October 8, 2010 It could be an SM 144 Check here for comparison: http://www.maedicke.de/atari/hardware/sm144.htm http://www.maedicke.de/atari/hardware.htm
ST-Freakz #6 Posted October 8, 2010 it is an SM 144 high resolution monitor i have 1 for sale, but i'm in the UK (which will be a problem regarding voltage and expensive shipping if you are in the US / Canada etc)
Tempest #7 Posted October 8, 2010 Hmm.. I think I may have one of those in the basement, I'll have to check. It's useless though since it's monochrome. I wonder how hard it would be to swap the innards with a standard ST color monitor? I want that stand!!! Tempest
crash #8 Posted October 9, 2010 I would love to have one of those monitors if it had an autoswitching power supply or otherwise would work in the US.
