tz101 #1 Posted October 12, 2010 This GW about 1/2 hour away from my house has gotten stupid with their pricing tactics. I was in there yesterday and saw rarities such as Combat, E.T., Space Invaders, and Adventure priced at $4 a piece. Even a used game and music store to my north generally prices all commons at 99 cents. These people at GW are smoking some serious herb...
Philflound #2 Posted October 12, 2010 Adventure is more of an uncommon. I actually don't have too many in stock. Phil
OldAtarian #3 Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) $4=way too much. I NEVER pay more than $1 for commons, EVER. It helps me to keep the clutter at a minimum otherwise I'd be filling the house up with carts if I valued them any higher than that. I was hitting one of the local GWs near me (5 mins from my house ), and saw the same stuff. $4/ea for commons. On another note, I went to a new GW Computer/Book store that recently opened. I went in and saw what I expected ... relatively recent technology. I inquired with the manager if they had any older stuff. He told me that when GoodWill gets the "older stuff", they generally bin it up and send it for recycle. While not necessarily a revelation, it was actually shocking to hear him say that. With that in mind, I'm also coming to the realization that GoodWill is no longer what they started as, the benevolent helper of the poor. Yes, their stuff is still cheaper than retail, but their prices have gone up. I don't think they can blame economy much either, considering they don't pay for the merchandise they sell, so they've got to be making a killing.
Robert M #5 Posted October 12, 2010 I like stores in that mode. Flat pricing like that means they are putting zero effort into learning the true value of the carts. So if a rare comes in it will be priced at $4. As a serious collector I have all the commons already so they don't matter the trick is getting the under priced rares when they do show up. Cheers!
kuifje76 #6 Posted October 12, 2010 saw rarities such as Combat, E.T., Space Invaders, and Adventure priced at $4 a piece. Welcome to Australia! Here all games are expensive. People dare to ask $10 Aus for combat and Asteroids... each.
