Which of these two games is more fun?

Recommended Posts

Swordquest - Earthworld

Donkey Kong

Simply put, which do you think gives more play value? I find Earthworld is kind of cryptic, but still it's an adventure game. Donkey Kong is a classic arcade game, but on it's own terms (outside of being really trimmed down) how does it fare as a fun VCS game?

Out of those two I'd choose Donkey Kong. While it may be a poor translation of the arcade game, its still fun to play. I always felt that the SQ games were pretty bland.

Donkey Kong, even when crippled with it's simplicity and crudeness.

I remember playing the hell out of that game back in the day. I can't recall now how much we noticed - or cared - back then that it was different from the arcade game. We just knew were were able to "play Donkey Kong," at home, without the need for quarters from mom & dad.

Of course, it was our awe at DK on the Colecovision that made us give up our 2600 and move to the Coleco back then.

Swordquest... it never registered back then. And I read somewhere that those games are relatively pointless now without the contest or whatever it was that went with them.

Donkey Kong.

There is too much "contest" and not enough "game" in Swordquest to make it fun.

I go with Donkey Kong....right...only 2 boards...but pretty true gameplay....Swordquest games have more content but all the mini games are basicly the same....and if you don't have the book you can't really play Swordquest

I always enjoyed the Swordquest games. No idea how to actually "beat" them, but for some reason I found the minigames pretty fun on their own.

I've always liked the 2600 Donkey Kong. I was upset at first about the lack of screens three and four, but I got over that quickly and had a lot of fun with the game as it is.
