GTA: San Andreas on the Xbox 360

Recommended Posts

I only tried a few Xbox games on my Xbox 360 and none of them looked that great. They actually looked worse and usually ended up freezing after a while. Maybe I picked the wrong games to try.

I wanted to see what Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas looks like and checked it out tonight. Instead of looking worse, I think it looks better. It could be my imagination, but the draw distance doesn't seem to be as short. Is the game supposed to be emulated exactly or can the draw distance be affected by being on a better console?

Wasn't that game made after the 360 came out? In practice, I won't swear to anything, but in theory, it would be easy to make a game run on one system, and run better when used on a newer system.

I see no real reason why not, and that would be an added incentive for people to buy one companies games over another.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released on October 26, 2004 for the PS2, then the Xbox version was released on June 7, 2005. The Xbox 360 was released on November 16, 2005.

there is bugs and glitches with just about every supported original xbox game when played on the 360 because its using software emulation and its far from where it could be.

just about every game i have played looked around the same or worse then being played on the original xbox.

the biggest problems i run into is slowdowns. Try to play KOTOR II on the 360 (boy its a mess), during slowdowns you warp around the map buttons will hardly respond and sound will skip. the best playing games i have found to be halo 1 and halo 2 but still with a few glitches.

its sad that MS no longer supports the backwards compatibility. just be glad that it has the ability.

Oh, LOL I thought it was newer thna that, but then, I haven't played much in the way of GTA.

I to am disappointed in Microsoft's decision to no longer support BC, but at least when they decided that, they didn't remove it from the system like some other people who shall remain unnamed *cough*PS3*cough*

Oh, perhaps the reason you can see farther is your setup? I mean, the original Xbox could do HD, but most games didn't, while the 360 is more intended for HD, and from what I hear, will upconvert old games to what you're settings are. Perhaps your just seeing a clearer image than on the original system, and that can help some.

I don't see why an emulator would provide such a benefit so I doubt it's actually happening.

How come your never on Xbox Live now, Random Terrain? Figured your 360 had bit the dust, but I see it hasn't.

For the most part.

But the occasional title plays great. I've seen no sign of issues as I've been playing through Black recently on my 360 for example (Grabbed the Xbox Originals download a few years ago during a sale, otherwise I'd of just played it on my Xbox if it were a disc).

And several other titles have worked well too over the years for me without the usual problems (A few other Xbox Original downloads and a few retail games like the Ninja Gaiden titels perform just fine on the 360 and really benefit from it's upscaling capabilities).

I like playing single-player games, I don't like wearing anything on my head, and I don't have the extra money to waste.

I don't know why GTA: SA looks better on my Xbox 360, but it sure was a nice surprise. It's not the monitor I'm using because other old Xbox games look horrible on it. For example, I expected Fable to look amazing, but it looks like crap.
