ColecoVision Graphic Glitches (sometimes)

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

i'll have some problems with my ColecoVision. Sometimes when I turn on the console the show up some graphic glitches. I can play the game but the graphics (sprites) looks ugly. When I turn off and then turn on the console everything is okay. I have cleaned the cart and the connector of the console but that seems not to be the problem. Might someone help me out with that problem ??? Is it the power supply? HELP! ;)

Common problem - the power switch is most likely dirty or the dielectric lube has dried out. If you feel up to it you could take it apart, clean it and re-lubricate it and it should play like new.

I've also gone so far as to just put an entirely different switch on:

I've had this problem too. For me it was the cart slot. I had to clean it really well. Gently scrubbed it with a soft brush and alcohol. I also used a tooth pick and gently bent the contacts in the cart slot closer to the center.

I've never seen a cart slot wear like that in my atari systems... could it be that the previous owner of my CV kept a cart in it when it was stored away?

Hmmm.. but it works great now.
