Turning 2600 game screens into Risk maps?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Some of you may be familiar with a website called warfish.net.

It's basically an "email game of Risk" that you can play with a few buddies, or even random people.

One of the cool features about it is that you can create your own maps.

I've played some cool ones based on other maps:

- Lewis and Clark territory maps of the Americas

- converted building blueprints

- Circular boards, reminiscent of Gondor from Lord of the Rings

Then it hit me-- it could be fun to make a map based on a 2600 game.

Though, I wasn't even sure what could be done.

What's needed primarily is:

- a layout that doesn't have a lot of "holes".

- hopefully with areas "clustered" together (perhaps items of a same color or size near each other)

- paths between those "clusters"

The first thing that came to my mind was a Super Breakout screen, with some blocks removed.

Different rows could be territories, and you could attack adjacent tiles.

The ball could be like a "ship" between land masses.

I was trying to think if anything else would work.

I could see Combat, or Suround being able to create territories.

But, what else could work?

Anyone have any ideas? I thought it would be fun to see what people could come up with.

Thanks!

-John
