jeremysart #1 Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) Because this is pretty amazing. http://sonicfanremix.com/ Personally, I found this to be more fun to play than Sonic 4, and better looking in my opinion. So far, its only a 3 level demo, and they could use cleaning up some of the over used vines, but other than that, this is pretty smooth. No, this is not just a shopped up piece of fan art.. this is the actual game, screen is taken straight from the playable demo. jeremysart #3 Posted October 25, 2010 I'm viewing this thread on my phone so I can't play it, but i am so playing this tomorrow. You'll have to tell me what you think of it when you get a chance to check it out. I am really quit surprised there havent been many comments or views on this thread. People are missing out, this is really great!
Video #4 Posted October 25, 2010 It may be the wording in your topic name. "check out this cool Sonic game" would probably get more hits. "are you a SEGA fan" sounds like a flame war just waiting to happen IMO. Anyhow, that does indeed look very cool, I'd be interested, if they make a hard copy. I'll need to download the demo though....you know....just to make sure

tz101 #6 Posted October 25, 2010 Looks like pre-rendered 3D sprites ala Donkey Kong Country. Will it be released in ROM form?
JamesD #7 Posted October 25, 2010 I've never been a SEGA fan and haven't seen anything to change my mind. I wan't the $10 back I spent on the last Sonic game that I bought.
innuendo #8 Posted October 26, 2010 Ok, I'm SEGA fan but not only. This screen is great, fantastic graphic.
kool kitty89 #9 Posted October 26, 2010 Looks like pre-rendered 3D sprites ala Donkey Kong Country. Will it be released in ROM form? Nope, its all realtime 3D... and unfortunately slow on all but newer machines though it may get further optimiztion later on. (you need a pretty up to date graphics card to run it smoothly on any of the higher settings)
AtariLeaf #10 Posted October 26, 2010 I'm a fan of certain sega games but sonic is not one of them.
Chris Leach #11 Posted October 26, 2010 I liked the game Chronic the Hedgehog...that was fun...? What that wasn't a real game? My bad Dogg!

mbd30 #13 Posted October 26, 2010 With my E5200 dual core and Intel integrated graphics, the scrolling isn't very smooth even running full screen at 1024x768 with quality set to "Good". Running at higher settings, the display drivers even stopped responding at one point, but then resumed. But what can you expect from integrated graphics? Very nice looking game though. My system won't be able to quite handle it until I bite the bullet and upgrade the graphics card.

I think any mid-range or higher graphics cards from up to 2-4 years ago should be OK though the Geforce 6 series is not up to the task at least. (8 is probably OK) My embedded 7150 doesn't run it well much above the lowest settings though. Oh, and that screenshot doesn't really do the game justice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHKD14XfOe8
cimerians #15 Posted October 26, 2010 I am and I am not a Sega fan. Depends on what it is. I think Sonic 4 was "more of the same" and not that appealing. I still would rather play the original games. The fan remake you are showing looks a whole lot better. Reaperman #16 Posted October 26, 2010 (edited) normally I'm not interested in homebrewed ripoffs, but this one has certainly got some polish on it. If it weren't on PC I'd give it a spin. If they had only taken a little time to create their own title and characters, the game could stand on its own merits, rather than sega's. Animan #17 Posted October 27, 2010 (edited) With my Alienware m15x (Quad-Core i7, GeForce GTX 260M), I able to run at 1080p with the setting on Fantastic just fine (did slow down quite a bit at the title card), and the game looks DROP DEAD GORGEOUS! If this thing had more levels, this could easily be the BEST Sonic the Hedgehog game. Period. This thing puts Sonic 4 to SHAME. The physics are just right, and the whole thing is so fun to play. For a fan project, this is mind blowing. Sega would be crapping bricks if they saw this. Edited October 27, 2010 by Animan

I was able to run the game perfectly on the Beautiful setting, running on the cheapest Compaq laptop you can buy. It has a basic AMD graphics accelerator and 2 gigs of RAM. I agree with you though, the game is gorgeous and easily puts Sonic 4 to shame. They are still working on this, and they are currently taking opinions and feedback on their site. I think they need to get rid of some of the excess vines, and the electricity effects that kind of add to the clutter. Other than that, I had more fun playing these three levels than Sonic 4.. or 3 for that matter. Kool Kitty89, thaks for posting the video!
guitarmas #19 Posted October 28, 2010 (edited) I'm downloading it right now. I'm psyched! I think it has great graphics and a great feel to it. The only complaint, besides it having only 3 levels, is that it's kinda hard to see the enemies when they are coming. Other than that, it's a great sonic game.
