Why I try 250host.com they are down... So, atari-forums host is off the internet. Man, that sucks. Looks like they need to find a new host, because it was down all day yesterday too...

Oldatarian, try this:

open a cmd prompt,

type in ipconfig /renew

that will renew everything about your IP address, though you may have to do a dns flush, too, but check that later. Or your local servers may not be talking to the British ones.

Nope. Doesn't work.

Firefox can't find the server at www.atari-forum.com

Flushed DNS cache and still can't connect

Does anyone know the numerical address for the site? Maybe it can be accessed that way if the name can't be resolved.

Seems a lot of people have been having this happen (from Website discussions on atari-forum):

Hi there.

Over the last few days, the atari forum site is coming up as 'not found' when I try to get to it on my main ISP. This is a virgin media / ex-ntl cable service.

I am fortunate in having more than one way to get on t'net, but it is a pain posting something this size from a teeny nokia keyboard!

Is there a blocking policy for some isp's or other issue causing problems between virgin media and atari forum?

More people have been having problems, this post was up at the forum to try to help:

If you guys can access your router through your browser i.e. going to http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 ,you can change the DNS servers your computers use to look up the atari forum address. I use one dns server from opendns.com and another from my isp.

The opendns.com dns server addresses are:

208.67.222.222

208.67.220.220

By changing the dns servers, it will bypass any dns (lookup) issues your isp has. I'm not sure if it will allow content if the isp has blocked it though. Probably better to use a web proxy for that but the free ones can be slow. http://anoniem-surfen.eigenstart.nl/

Does this help?

Nope. I don't use a router. I'm directly connected to my cable modem and can't change any of the settings.

Works fine in the UK for me. No-one seems to have posted on the forum itself about major problems other than a few people using Virgin as their ISP (again, UK-based people).

I'll send Silver Surfer a message about this thread as he looks after the back-end side of things and see what he can find out.

  • 2 weeks later...

Working fine for me in the UK. I just logged in and out.

Looks like a dns server issue somewhere then, probably with their hosts' name servers.

Still doesn't work for me, after two weeks.

If I connect via "3 mobile" it's fine.

I'm with BT and have now determined that BT are actively blocking 250host.com and thus any sites they host are not available to me.

That so SUCKS

I'm with BT too. atari-forum was available every so often, in fact I was able to login about 2 weeks ago. Not sure why BT would block 250host unless they host some nasty stuff or have servers that have been compromised and turned into malicious senders of spam or viruses or even ... the spawn of Satan.

BT aren't very responsive so not sure if they'll ever get back to me and tell me why or confirm if they are actively blocking.
