WERY #1 Posted October 31, 2010 I hope I put this thread in the right place cause I was not certain where else to place it I have seen lots of talk about the 4jays store and decided to check it out. When looking at it I realized that the prices for games are extremely low. So many cheap games that ebay seems to be unreasonable as a marketplace for old games when the prices over there are so high and the prices at 4jays are so low. So to the questions; What experience do yuo have with them? Are their shippingprices reasonable? Are they proportional to what you buy? (seen sellers at ebay who wants 30$ for one game in shipping while others only take 10$ for the first game and then lower it to 2$ for each additional etc) Easy/simple to make business with? Honest? Reliable?
jaybird3rd #2 Posted October 31, 2010 I'd recommend them highly. I've bought from them several times.

jaybird3rd #4 Posted October 31, 2010 Okay, when you buy complete or boxed games, is the condition good? I've never bought boxed games from them, only loose cartridges, so I can't answer from my own experience. The loose carts I got were in excellent condition and their shipping rates were very reasonable.
Gabriel #5 Posted October 31, 2010 Talk about synchronicity! I was thinking of purchasing an old gaming item and 4jays was the only thing that came up on my search as someone who carried it. I hadn't thought about them in years. I'm going to be a bit negative. When I dealt with them in the past, they were always extremely slow and erratic with communication. I often got told my emails to them were "lost," and only got responses after a couple of weeks of resends. I always got my orders from them, eventually. However, in every dealing with them, my shipment would always be missing an item I had ordered. This would mean I'd have to go through the iffy process of establishing communication with them. They always fixed their error in the end, but the regularity and recurrence of the problem was troubling. If I remember correctly, they tended to ship very bare bones. I think the most elaborate they would get would be bubble wrap around an item. I know I ordered a boxed 5200 game and some other bare carts and they arrived in nothing more than a bubble envelope. I might order from them again, but I would explore other avenues first.
WERY #6 Posted October 31, 2010 Well I would sure like my games sent in a sturdy box in order to be sure the condition is intact during the shippingprocess
tz101 #7 Posted October 31, 2010 I ordered a Colecovision power supply through 4jays. It arrived in good shape and runs my CV fine. Thanks to 4jays
Atarifever #8 Posted October 31, 2010 Fastest service to Canada from anyone I've ever dealt with. I send money orders a lot of the time (I'm like someone 80 years old as far as trusting most online retailers goes), and they generally recieve it one day and send that day. Most places will be "processing" a money order from Canada for 3 or 4 days before sending in my experience. They then send with very, very fast international shipping. Even using a money order and having it go through Canada post, there is generally 2 weeks (best time was even less, which considering that Canada Post touched it has to be a world record)) between sending the money order and getting the product. Pretty much everywhere else I go you can add three days of "processing" and then over expensive shipping making me have to go with the slower rate and I'm lucky to get it the same month. The service, for me anyway, has been so solid and fast that I will generally pay a few extra dollars to buy from them if the product is there and somewhere else. The boxed new 7800 games I have bought have been shipped well protected and arrived in amazing shape (again, this isn't a given with Canada Post with anything less than a lead lined box). The boxed used games vary in codition depending on who owned it I guess. However, most boxed used games I've gotten there have been in fantastic shape. Even the box my replacement 7800 adaptor was in was in mint condition.
WERY #9 Posted October 31, 2010 Atarifever: That sounds really good. I might order from that store soon but then I got to ask them about their stock. I looked at the old site that was named 4jays.com and there they said it was old and only could be used as a reference while 4jays.net is the new site. It did on the other hand had much fewer games in stock so there is a question of unique titles that can be purchased. Of course they also said they had a great stock so one could mail them and ask if they had a certaingame. I may try that but i could be lots of work for them if they have to get to the warehouse = need of time
marcfrick2112 #10 Posted October 31, 2010 I've ordered from 4Jays before, I have had no problems. I'll agree, they could pack some items better. Ordering a 1541 drive from them, it arrived in nothing more than a thin box... the drive worked great tho.... Atarifever: That sounds really good. Atarifever #11 Posted October 31, 2010 (edited) I've ordered from 4Jays before, I have had no problems. I'll agree, they could pack some items better. Ordering a 1541 drive from them, it arrived in nothing more than a thin box... the drive worked great tho.... It's weird that I've never had this problem. I can't remember what exactly it shipped in, but all of mine have been in excellent shape when they arrived and I've never taken notice of light packaging. If it shipped in little protection, I'd definitely have made a mental note of it and would be able to recall now what it was in. I'm pretty sure they come in a tough cardboard box with styrafoam popcorn, but can't remember for sure. At the least it wasn't packed lightly enough for me to have noticed it as an issue. Maybe when they have shipping going to the package destroying monsters at Canada Post they pack extra careful? zylon #12 Posted October 31, 2010 All loose games and systems I've bought from 4jays were fine and packed well enough. The only bad experience was with a boxed C64 which was just in it's original box with a bit of wrap and wadded paper. The back of the system was broken apart but still worked. The only bad experience was with a boxed C64 which was just in it's original box with a bit of wrap and wadded paper. The back of the system was broken apart but still worked. So if I buy a C64 I will have to ask them by mail about the condition. I shall probably do so every time I buy something and tell them to send in a good pakage to ensure they do it right. Well this sure was handy feedback so I will mail them and ask some questions and hopefully they got more games if business work out well
goatdan #14 Posted November 1, 2010 As others have said, when ordering from them it's best to ask if they can tell you what condition something is in before you buy it. 4Jays was one of the inspirations behind Gary and I starting the GOAT Store, as we ordered some stuff together and some of it was in outstanding condition, while other stuff was not nearly as nice. It's best to ask, as they don't always note things in their pages.

All the smashed pieces and screws were in the box as well. I just put another case top on it since I had one and was easier and faster than paying return shipping. IntellivisionDude #16 Posted November 1, 2010 I have never bought from 4jays. Their shipping seems to be really high. I put 1 loose Intellivision game in the Shopping Cart and the cheapest shipping option was $11.81 I have purchased from Atari2600.com and The Goat Store and both had great prices and affordable shipping. Rik #17 Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) Great, quick e-mail response, LIGHTNING fast delivery, great prices.I bought a hard to find INTV 2 power supply, and a 2600 supply from them. Can't go wrong with 4jays. :thumbsup:That was about 2 years ago, i hope they've kept up the great service.I don't mind paying a little more for shipping, when its shipped fast like they do.I live in Canada, and the intv power supply was at my door 3 days later :thumbsup:I don't remember the shipping being too expensive really though. That was 2 years ago and of course it may have gone up due to inflation like anything else does. I guess it is a Canada thing. As I said, my experience mirrors this exactly. (The inflation doesn't worry me. As long as the Americans keep devaluing their currency (and they've been at it nonstop since the early 90s, so I don't see it stopping) things keep getting cheaper for us here. When I started collecting I'd have to pay 20 extra cents on the dollar. Now I've had times where I saved 10 cents on the dollar. Right now it's parity again, so it's still like everything is on sale).

I put 1 loose Intellivision game in the Shopping Cart and the cheapest shipping option was $11.81 That's due to the cart only listing UPS shipping. You have to email them for USPS shipping (which should be cheaper). I only ordered a bigger item (Atari 7800 with paddles, controllers, and two CIB games) from them before and the UPS ground shipping was reasonable for that, so I don't know how much their USPS shipping is. nashnooga #22 Posted November 4, 2010 I like 4jays... I actually live close to their store. been there a few times for jaguar and 3do accessories, they seem to know their stuff, and they have quite a bit in their store. Tenorman #23 Posted November 11, 2010 I bought a couple Atari 7800 gamepads from them once. One of them didn't work and I have absolutely no problems with them exchanging it for a new one. I recommend them. You can't go wrong with Goat Store either.
