jacobus
This is truly insane! eBay Auction -- Item Number: 120640907669 I remember seeing a sealed Infocom Starcross Saucer going for ~$800 a few years ago, but this one really takes the cake! (one more item to add to my shopping list when I get my time machine working...)
+save2600
Out of control - no kidding! How come I never have that kind of luck on any of my postings? Then again, I'd probably feel like a douche for selling something so silly for so much. Or not. lmao
Bryan
Isn't it interesting, though, what a special place Infocom has in the hearts of collectors.
Rev
what a difference being sealed is. i sold one of these zork trilogy's last year and it only went for like 100 or something!
+orpheuswaking
Infocom collecting is nuts, even more so if you are looking for original 5 1/4 disks.... I have a fairly large atari 8bit only collection, but I'm still missing about half... But my personal limit is $50 on an individual piece so I'll never be complete. Bryan
I collect A8 stuff, but I don't really care about any of it being sealed. That just means I have to be the one to break the seal (and devalue it) if I want to play with the contents.
My600XL
Sealed or not, that's a CRAZY amount to pay!
+save2600
Sealed or not, that's a CRAZY amount to pay! "Sealed". LMAO! Might not be an originally shrink-wrapped example. Disk(s) may not work due to many factors relating to degradation, storage, handling, X-Ray subjection, humidity and God knows what else. If this auction is for real, what a goofball. Some people and their children! Going by this math and example, guess I might just be a "millionaire" then as so many of you probably are! We just don't know it yet ...and Muis Tasher - $500 in coupons - LOL! Edited November 7, 2010 by save2600
Muis Tasher
it says on the box u get $500 in coupons. i think that's why it went for so much cause the offer's still good lol j/k
jacobus
and look what the cat dragged in... eBay Auction -- Item Number: 160503407151 It's sealed as well! Edited November 7, 2010 by jacobus
+save2600
"This game also comes with the acid-free bag that I have stored it in all these years". ...yeah right. Acid free, huh? So the shrinkwrap wouldn't fade or turn color? Too bad the seller isn't acid free Edited November 7, 2010 by save2600
Bryan
When I see hype stickers on the shrink, I figure it's legit. Otherwise, who knows?

No, I get that... just wondering why you'd need an acid-free bag to protect shrinkwrap. Shrinkwrap is not paper or a photograph, last I checked. Unless the guy either meant UV protected so the shrink wouldn't turn yellow after all those years. But yeah, I highly doubt someone would be so anal and have the foresight to protect something such as this with an acid-free bag OR UV protected anything. Just seems like the guy is trying to pad his sale. Someone should ask him for a pic of the acid-free bag it was "kept in" all these years. Which, come to think of it - was there an acid-free awareness that long ago? Early 80's? Seems to me that phrase and general awareness or at least the practice of using it took off much later... In any event, for that price - the damn Apple ][ game should come with some acid. And at least the acid-free bag it was supposedly kept in all these years. OldAtarian
Makes me glad I bought Lost Treasures when it first came out and held onto it. The original SSI A,D&D games also go for ridiculous amounts. Edited November 8, 2010 by OldAtarian
roberto
This is truly insane! Interestingly, the seller's nick was "fat drunk stupid" which, I guess, would be more appropriate for the the buyer... The seller was actually quite smart!
