Gunstar #1 Posted November 7, 2010 I'd meant to do it for a while, I've had the paint waiting for a year. Today I finally modded my Jag cosmetically. Pics below.
ls650 #2 Posted November 7, 2010 I have a second Jag that I keep as a spare. I have thought of getting it airbrushed... but I would probably go with something a little more subtle.
+save2600 #3 Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) That looks nicer than the other chaps totally orange look. You use vinyl die too? Still looks like a sneaker, but I guess it looks nicer than a ash stained toilet bowl My Adidas! Edited November 7, 2010 by save2600
kevincal #4 Posted November 7, 2010 Paint it all red and slap a Ferrari logo on it where the Jag logo was! LOL Its sweet man,
Gunstar #5 Posted November 7, 2010 Nothing so elaborate as vinyl dye. This is just a well done spray paint job, with a couple hand painted touches (fuji and controller port numbers).
carmel_andrews #6 Posted November 7, 2010 You should of painted it 'real gold' (or possibly silver/platinum) Mr. Gunstar.....Just to add serious value to it
Gunstar #7 Posted November 7, 2010 You should of painted it 'real gold' (or possibly silver/platinum) Mr. Gunstar.....Just to add serious value to it You may be right. Plus, with the continuing fall of the Dollar, I'll soon be able to use those worthless dollars to make a dust cover for it!
Gunstar #8 Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) I've done some further modifications becuase I noticed that with the Jag CD unit's painted grill and cartridge area, it wasn't a smooth line transition too the Jaguar base unit. So I painted the Jaguar base unit's grill and "wings." Edited November 7, 2010 by Gunstar
carmel_andrews #9 Posted November 7, 2010 If you get another jag sys. (w or w/o a cd addon), why not paint it multicolour mode (like the way warners used to colour the atari banners)
Gunstar #10 Posted November 9, 2010 I decided my Jaguar is the best looking one there is, I want YOU to prove me wrong. Show us all your customized Jaguar, even if you have before! I've started a similiar thread on JSII, so you decided where to post your pictures, but it'd be nice to have them all in one thread, since I started it over there first, I suggest posting your pics at JSII. I have all-new final pics over on JSII as well.
ls650 #11 Posted November 9, 2010 I have thought of paying a pro airbrush artist to paint something on one of my Jaguars to jazz it up. I was thinking of some flames or smoke peeling up from the front edge, covering maybe 20% of the top surface... I dunno. Any ideas?
Gunstar #12 Posted November 9, 2010 I have thought of paying a pro airbrush artist to paint something on one of my Jaguars to jazz it up. I was thinking of some flames or smoke peeling up from the front edge, covering maybe 20% of the top surface... I dunno. Any ideas? It really does depend on how involved in money and time you want to get. I spent basically an afternoon with masking tape and spray paint, and I think I did something that looks fantastic. I have a fantastic looking Jaguar. Anything more would not necessarily be improving the Jaguar's look as it would be using the Jaguar as a canvas to make an artistic statement. I am, however, also a damn good artist, and I too, have thought about doing a work of art on the Jaguar or other machines. Wether it would be airbrush, or fine horse hair detail brushes I don't know yet, that would of course all depend on the chosen composition.
Gunstar #13 Posted November 10, 2010 The matching Jaguar controller is now complete!
carmel_andrews #14 Posted November 10, 2010 Perhaps you should offer a service Mr Gunstar (for a reasonable rate) in painting other people's jaguars and accessories in custom colours (either permanent or colour transfers)...I guess it would only apply to jaguar fans on your side of the big drink (since it would cost a bit sending jaguars and accessories o/s's)
Gunstar #15 Posted November 26, 2010 I spent my Black Friday continuing cosmeticly modding my Jaguar "system." I've nearly finished my original Jag controller, with keypad buttons now red, and I have also done my procontroller, except for button lettering details. kevincal #16 Posted November 27, 2010 sweet, i think it would awesome if it was totally red
Gunstar #17 Posted November 27, 2010 (edited) This is really just the beginning, not with this Jag system, but in general. I'm starting to mod my 3DO FZ-1 right now, and I'll be doing a second Jaguar core unit and controller in a totally new way after that. Then my Dreamcast... I may start doing custom paint jobs for others, if anyone is interested. But first my personal portfolio so people can see more than one example. +remowilliams #18 Posted November 27, 2010 You might seriously want to think about looking into vinyl dyes. The results are much better with them and they don't have that awful spray paint orange peel look to them.

The results are much better with them and they don't have that awful spray paint orange peel look to them. I'll definately look into it, but the so-called "orange peel" look you are refering to is the result of the textured surface, not the paint I used, in non-textured areas it's as smooth as glass. And/or becuase these pictures don't have the best lighting either, and the flash glare is everywhere. I have extensive experience with spray paint; these look incredible and factory-finish-like in real life. Edited November 27, 2010 by Gunstar
