Flight Commander and Booster Grip questions

Recommended Posts

Lot I bought recently included Flight Commander stick and a Booster Grip.

Are Spitfire and Omega Race the only games these were really used for, respectively?

Both work but, this second, seem like space wasters to me.

Aso, Flight Commander stick's targeting sight is broken off. I'm guessing it was jus for looks anyway.

I would answer but there are too many "experts" that know so much more on Atari Age these days, it is best to wait until one of them can offer the "correct" answer.

Anything less is shot down in quick order...

Now, now, no need to get all sarcastic. :P

Besides, on the internet, you need a thick skin. You think I give a flying you-know-what what anyone thinks about me on here? ;)

I wish I could answer the OP's question, but I have no clue.

If I recall properly the joystick inputs are the same, just with a different mechanism to move the stick. The flight commander should still translate to joystick motion on other games.

I'm not completely sure, though, as the fact it was used with a pack-in game might imply special code in the cart for different input type.

You are correct, Cebus. I tried it with Yars' Revenge. It works, alright. It's just not ideal. I'm wondering if any other games benefit from it's use.

Thanks,

Matt

The Flight Commander and Cosmic Commander are merely fancy-looking joystick controllers. The Booster Grip is different; the original Omega Race VCS game can't be played without it or certain alternatives that happen to be electrically similar.
