VectorGamer #1 Posted November 11, 2010 Y'know, despite the 2600 being my favorite platform to collect for, I really love the Vectrex. Although a lot of the games aren't that good, the uniqueness of the Vectrex makes it my favorite console. I don't even play it that much... My faves are Rip Off, Minestorm and Solar Quest. I can't wait to get Star Castle!

About the only games I can think of at the moment that I don't care for are the soccer and football games, although I find the football one tolerable. Oh, and 3d Crazy Coaster isn't much of a game. On the other hand, Star Castle, Scramble, Fortress of Narzod (sp? Never can remember if it's that or Nazrod), Space Wars, etc., are all classics. If only someone would port Warrior... the-topdog #6 Posted November 12, 2010 was thinking of picking up a vectrex. anything i need to know or look for? The only thing you need to know is to fasten your seat-belt when you first fire up a Vectrex so you don't get blown away. They are awesome consoles, and so long as it is working and the joystick auto-centers, you are good to go!
MitchSchaft #7 Posted November 12, 2010 LoL Vectrexians is the closest to Galaga that I can find. Somebody needs to figure out how to do Donkey Kong.

desiv #12 Posted November 13, 2010 (edited) ... no games for $60.00. There is no such thing as a Vectrex with no games... They all come with Minestorm, which is worth $60 by itself!!! :-) It's still my favorite original Vectrex game... And you're the second person I've seen say they didn't get (or were selling) the Vectrex because they didn't have the room??? Next time you get a chance, dive in! The water is fine!!! desiv p.s. The above comment is in no way meant to encourage anyone to combine their Vectrex with water!!! Edited November 13, 2010 by desiv

Lord Helmet #16 Posted November 17, 2010 The only thing I don't like about the Vectrex is the joystick. I find it has too much play in it. Most games don't need the analog stick at all...so I'm thinking of modding a Genesis controller to work with the Vectrex.

I generally prefer playing most Vectrex games with the (heavily) customized NES controller that I built.

One has a bad joystick and the other one seems to have some buttons that wont work. There's a fix for those buttons... I followed these instructions and it worked like a champ: http://www.playvectrex.com/shoptalk/vecjoyrepair/vecjoyrepair_f.htm It's worth trying else you'll spend some dough on new controllers. VectorGamer #21 Posted November 18, 2010 I finally got Star Castle today. Man it's awesome and almost as difficult as the arcade game. So far I am up to 19K. My hand cramps up after a while. Who wants to have a Vectrex Star Castle & Rip-Off HSC tournament over Thanksgiving?

You're right. The level of difficulty is only slightly easier than the arcade game. I just got up to 21K. My high is 18K in MAME.

I get you but i was pretty sure you guys knew what i meant "no games BESIDES the one built in".There comes a time when some have to leave room for other things in their houses besides video gaming stuff.I do not live in a huge house like some, or have a huge room left just for that. For me that's the case, i had to stop buying before i end up on "BURIED ALIVE" and trip over consoles on the floor cuz there's no room left to properly store, that's what it's starting to be like in my basement. It all adds up, no matter what treasure it is, it all takes up room.I'll just keep what i have now and build or add shelves to properly store it all.So that's the situation for me now anyway .
