e1will #1 Posted November 12, 2010 I apologize if someone already posted this, but I came across this and found it interesting. It's a list of Atari 2600 games, ranked by how many views their Wikipedia article gets: http://top-topics.thefullwiki.org/Atari_2600_games I don't know how often it's updated but as of now the top 10 are: 1. Mario Bros. 2. Donkey Kong 3. Space Invaders 4. Custer's Revenge 5. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 6. Double Dragon 7. Frogger 8. Asteroids 9. Ms. Pac-Man 10. Chase the Chuck Wagon Some homebrews were on there too: 50. Halo 2600 95. Thrust 117. Duck Attack! 182. Juno First --Will

e1will #3 Posted November 12, 2010 no love for 'name this game' huh? Well, at #191 it's doing better than Activision Tennis, at least. --Will
BassGuitari #4 Posted November 12, 2010 Interesting, but I think the title of the list is a misnomer. I don't think it has much to do with how well-loved these games are. Some of them aren't even 2600 games ("List of Atari 2600 games," "Baseball (Intellivision game)," "Astrosmash"...okay, it's called "Astroblast" on the Atari, but still). If this actually reflected how much people actually enjoy playing these games, I'm confident that Mario Bros., Custer's Revenge, Double Dragon, and Chase The Chuckwagon would not be in the Top 10... raskar42 #5 Posted November 13, 2010 i don't think it's based specifically on atari searches. a search for mario brothers will get you to mario for the 2600. it may be because of his 25th anniversary that the interest is so high. otherwise mario bros for atari is a pretty mediocre game. Heavy26R #6 Posted November 13, 2010 (edited) Searches don't reflect popularity or favorites. I search "xxxx + wiki" for things I need to learn about. I don't search Wiki for my childhood favorites. I know them. Wikipedia is a starting point. Those statistics illustrate curiosity or ignorance. The most searched word is sex, not abstinence or Blockbuster night. Curiosity. Might as well put Rubik's Cube on there, too. This is a terrible list.
raskar42 #8 Posted November 13, 2010 Those statistics illustrate curiosity or ignorance. This probably was the result of ignorant people curious about the worst atari games
