toymailman #1 Posted November 15, 2010 I have a good start on the APF stuff and a pic is below. Not too many games made for this but they are proving to be very hard to find.

I didn't realize that they made a console with carts. I have an APF TV fun, the original pong model. I really like it. I can see the appeal of collecting them. toymailman #4 Posted November 15, 2010 Hey. I didn't realize that they made a console with carts. I have an APF TV fun, the original pong model. I really like it. I can see the appeal of collecting them. I found out that they actually made a computer to go with it too. It was called the Imagination Machine. The console attached to it as well. I suppose similar to the ColecoVision/ADAM, but earlier.

I actually really enjoy the baseball game, which was really well done for the time. The imagination machine is really tough to find...espically for a good price. fiddlepaddle #6 Posted November 15, 2010 Nice. (hmm, 1978) I never saw that one before. It looks very similar, conceptually, to the Colecovision. I wonder if Coleco was influenced by it... Those games look interesting too. How's the breakout-like game?
The_Laird #7 Posted November 15, 2010 Never even heard of this but it looks interesting. How many games were made for it?

Which carts are you missing? I'm pretty sure I still have a couple of dupes left from when I put my run together. Nice to see so many boxes as well. toymailman #9 Posted November 15, 2010 I have my extras on eBay right now. Its not a bad little system for being so obscure.

As you know, I like the obscure stuff. The best part is there were not many games made for such systems so a complete collection doesn't take up too much space. The downside is they are very hard to find stuff for. Also, TwinGalaxies doesn't track scores for them either. LOL!

I don't have the basic cart, but that's more a part of the Imagination Machine so for the time being, I'm ok not having it. Outside of that, Space Destroyers was the hardest to find. Does your system have a power light by chance? Still trying to nail down the differences between the M1000 and the MP1000.
BigO #13 Posted November 16, 2010 Cool. We had a hand-me-down one of these systems when I was a kid. I've looked casually for one for years and have yet to see one outside of eBay.

I have it on display in the museum area at the Midwest Gaming Classic every year. We also had the full Imagination Machine setup of gwHunter's as well one year. If you guys want to more info on the console and the computer, head over to Larry Greenfield's excellent APF Imagination page. I also don't know the difference between the "M" and "MP" versions. My console is the M1000 and it does not have a power light.

toymailman #19 Posted December 9, 2010 Does your system have a power light by chance? Still trying to nail down the differences between the M1000 and the MP1000. I just got an MP1000 on eBay and compared it to my M1000; pictures are below. There are two differences. 1) The MP1000 has a power LED. 2) The MP1000 has a metal plate around the inside of the cartridge slot. I think this is for connecting it to the computer system (Imagination Machine). I've read somewhere that the M1000 can not be used with the computer and it is likely for this reason. However, after taking them all apart (to give them a good cleaning) that plate is easily removeable and could be put in an M1000 to make it work too.
