Cupcakus #1 Posted December 4, 2002 My mother used to work for Atari in the 80's as the Payroll Manager in Sunnyvale, I got to meet a lot of really interesting Atari people, Engineers, programmers, accountants, slackers.... I of course can't remember any of them now... and if I could I would probably shoot myself for meeting them and not asking them a slew of questions... Anyway... my Birthdays and Christmases were always filled with a slew of Atari stuff, usually games.... My mother saved the reciepts from her company purchases, and I in turn took them when I took all of the Atari stuff from her house to add to my collection... Here are some scans of two of the reciepts... I have about 12 others.... These are interesting -- to me anyways -- because they have another woman's name on the top, other than my mother's... the remaining reciepts have my mother's name on the top... I'll have to ask her who this person is sometime....
Albert #2 Posted December 4, 2002 Those are pretty cool. It's interesting to note that there were *three* company stores, judging by the three addresses on top of the receipts. It's also interesting that one receipt is dated 8/18/83 and the other the next day, yet the Sales Order Number differs by over 10,000. I wonder if these purchases were made at two different employee stores (perhaps one store was out of some of the games?) ..Al
Sir Plus #3 Posted December 4, 2002 Note that the first one has #49950. The end of a tablet could have been there, right? (50 sheet tablets) Or even at 50000. Since tablets are not always opened in the correct order (due to an oversight or damage), I suspect that they are both from the same place. Due to the popularity of the system at the time, this scenario is not hard to believe. Another is that the people taking the orders at the time were not using the same group of blank sales slips. Another possibility in such chaos.
Rob Mitchell #4 Posted December 4, 2002 Funny .. of the Keyboard games .. Only Brain Games and Basic Programming are listed on the printed receipt. Codebreaker and Concentration had to be written in. Looks like you got all the original keyboard games in one purchase. I can read Pole Position .. but what is the other game?
