Star Raiders question

Recommended Posts

I grabbed a few 2600 games today, including Star Raiders ($0.50/ea at the local used everything store :D) and I'd like to dive into it but I find myself without the touchpad since they just had the game cartridge. I was wondering though if anyone know if I can use a Genesis gamepad in place of the Star Raiders touchpad? If so, is there a control map somewhere I could get pointed to?

If this isn't a possibility does anyone know if there's an alternative to using the touchpad and still have full controls in the game? Its looking like the touch pad isn't THAT expensive on the Internet but with the holiday approaching I figure it'd be a couple weeks or more before I actually got my hands on the touch pad thanks to shipping.

The Video Touch Pad, Keyboard Controllers, and Kid's Controllers are electrically equivalent; you can use any of them for any game that requires one of them. Overlays and carts needing two of the controllers (BASIC programming, Synthcart, etc.) are about the only complications, though Star Raiders is simple enough to memorize the buttons and play without an overlay.

I don`t suppose there is anyone who reproduces these touchpad overlays or a section on the forum where people upload a scan that can be printed and cut to shape as a repro?
