Why no 'Sears version' of Centipede?

Recommended Posts

I think the whole "Sears version" thing ended by the time the silver-label era came around. You won't find any silver-label game with a Sears version.

According to the AA Rarity Guide, Sears only released 58 titles, including the three exclusives. Atari produced 132, excluding prototypes and retitled reissues, so there are a lot of Atari games that didn't have a Sears version released. My count was just done by a quick run down the pages so the numbers may be a little off, but they should give you a fair idea.

I agree that I think the last titles released by Sears were 1981, possibly into the beginning of 1982.

Anticipated release dates for Berzerk and Star Raiders were late summer of 1982. After that came the Realsports series and Swordquest, which I think were the first silver labels. Sears released Star Raiders but not any of the silver labels.

Thanks for closure guys.... I was just wondering since arcade hits like Defender, Berzerk and Asteriods had Sears counterparts and Centipede didn't.
