Underball #1 Posted November 23, 2010 Loved it when I had it back in the day. Sad it had such a short life span. I forgot how hard Star Wars is. and Doom, even with the lower res box, is still pretty impressive. Can't wait to get an Ever Drive and play all the games I never had. +wood_jl #2 Posted November 23, 2010 I think the 32x is neat. Especially when it didn't cost you $199. Trouble is, almost all the used ones are missing the short A/V cable. But they're fun! I haven't been following the Everdrive thread. All 32x games work?

The Japanese ones work fine.. not that you will want to play them anyways (or, I should say, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, as that was the only exclusive one to Japan; It's basically entirely in Japanese). Darxide from Europe also works fine on the Everdrive.
Algus #5 Posted November 24, 2010 (edited) The A/V cables are easy enough to replace I've found. I found a cable maker on the internet that sold me exactly what I needed (this has been several years ago so I don't remember how to find them anymore...) The 32X is a real steal when you can buy it for $10-$20 tops (depending on whether it has the box or not). Unfortunately the library is extremely small but many of the titles are fun to play. I only personally own Doom, Knuckles Chaotix, and Star Wars Arcade. Although I also have Night Trap and Fahrenheit (CD 32X games) I can definitely say that Chaotix and SWA were worth the price of the 32X. Doom is a pretty inferior port unfortunately. I don't have much cause to play it when I have so many better versions of the game available, including the PC version and the Xbox 360 version. Check out Kolibri sometime though. Its amazing. I really need to get around to buying it. Virtua Fighter and Virtua Racing are both pretty good too. If you can get the Sega CD as well, the CD 32X version of Night Trap is much improved and still just as hilarious as the regular Sega CD version. Rikkarr #6 Posted November 24, 2010 It's a really nice system, and if you have enough outlets, then there's really no reason to ever unhook it, unless you wanted to play Genesis Virtua Racing for some reason. I've heard it improves picture quality of genesis games as well (I've only heard this, don't know for sure), but I can confirm that Japanese Mega Drive games will fit into it and play fine, so long as they're not region locked. +wood_jl #7 Posted November 24, 2010 It does not improve the quality of Genesis games. As far as Virtua Racing goes, you'd want the 32X-specific Virtua Racing if you have a 32X anyway; it is the best home version of V.R. there is. The Saturn version (outsourced) flat-out sucks. +remowilliams #8 Posted November 24, 2010 I love the 32x. Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter and Afterburner alone make the system worth owning. And now with the amazing Everdrive supporting the 32x its just better then ever.

And now with the amazing Everdrive supporting the 32x its just better then ever. I guess I should cobble together a cable one of these days and check out the 32x. It seems like I remember thinking that the cable might be compatible with one I have that connects the satellite display to a portable DVD player. It doesn't improve the graphics or gameplay, but the A/V out of the 32x is much better than the standard genesis a/v out. It's much cleaner and sharper.
