OldAtarian #1 Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Got a SC1224 recently and apparently it does not have the cable running to the ST hardwired in. It has a jack on the back the same as the one on the back of the ST and requires a cable between them. The label says SC1224 Version 2 on the monitor and has a gray bezel on the front. It is completely different from my other 2 SC1224's (which are both also different from each other). Does anyone know where to get one of these cables? Kenwood use(d) them in their car audio installs (I have three here) and I believe some midi stuff uses it too http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_kw=13&_kw=pin&_kw=audio http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=kenwood+13+pin&_sacat=0&_odkw=13+pin+lead&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

+wood_jl #4 Posted November 24, 2010 Has anyone ever seen an SC1224 with one of these instead of the hardwired cable? Yassah! That's my favorite version of the SC1224! It's the model made by JVC. At this [late] stage of the game, it's a disadvantage that it's removable, because they're frequently lost in the hand-me-down market - as if I need to tell you that. The "version 2" is kind of a misnomer, and must be some internal, pre-release moniker. That's actually "the first version" of the SC1224 that was released, and I believe it was 1985 thru 1986 mostly. The trouble is, most suckers want "too much" for the cable. Here's one on ebay, $20, listed as a "monochrome" cable. Perhaps a superior intellect can decipher why it would be explicitly monochrome, or where they're getting that idea. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 300480154608 I noticed that they went up $5 on their price, too, because here's an old (closed) listing where they were $15 from the guy: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 290482998342 There is some business with the audio-in and monochrome-detect pins, as evidenced by comparing these two listings from page 68 of the Best catalog. [perhaps superior intellect will chime in on this, as well]
tjlazer #5 Posted November 25, 2010 Good catch. Well I had a weird problem that might tie into this issue. I have the JVC monitor and I noticed that on some ST's the volume was very low. I think it was on Mega ST and newer ST's that this happened to the most. Could be the monitor cable I am using is not the correct one! I need to break off pin #5.... Hmmmmm
