Grip cover for CV Super Action Controller

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I was doing some ColecoVision work today, and needed a Super Action Controller. I noticed there was a removable platic cover over the grip handle, to make the handle fatter. I found it worked quite well, making the switches closer to the end of the fingers. I didn't look through all my Super Action Controllers, but I think this is the only one I have that has this.

Is this an aftermarket add-on, or were they included with each Super Action Controller... and usually lost?

Thanks,

Two were included with the purchase of the Super Action Controllers and Super Action Baseball. They were included for people with larger hands to do just what you stated... align your fingertips more properly with the fire buttons.

These are NOT an aftermarket add-on.

BTW, have you ever had any luck repairing the two-directional Speed Roller? Got two that only register movement to the left, even when spinning the wheel to the right. I've never had any luck repairing these except when the defect was something minor like dirty contacts or a loose fire-button wire from being handled too roughly. Another problem that develops over time is the ball-knob becomes free wheeling (spins on the shaft)... the ball-knob is still secured to the shaft.

Thanks for the info on the SAC. I hadn't seen these grips before today.

For the speed roller, I'm thinking that maybe one of the two reed relays isn't working anymore.

For the ball-knob, there's a orange cap on the top of the knob. Underneath it is the end of a bolt, and some sort of compression nut. Probably some of the orange plastic has been worn off through spinning, or the nut has become loose over time.

Yep, the handgrips were there to snap on for adults was always our conclusion. With the grips, the controller was too big for my then-9 year old hands. Today, probably couldn't use the controller without them! :)

I bought my SACs new, and they came with those things. I was an adult at the time, but my hands must be medium size, because I don't mind using it either way (on or off). The only thing is sometimes with them on, they come off while I'm using the controller messing up my game.
