Victory can be played only with a roller controller.... you can try with 2 steering wheels but it's not gonna work very well. The only version of Victory for the ColecoVision that can be played with a regular controller is on my web site as a curiosity, a hack I did this year. birdie3 #9 Posted December 9, 2010 The CBS label variation works great; 100% with no glitches..
RJ #10 Posted December 9, 2010 Yes I saw the Youtube vid- so what's the real story, unplayable w/ a bug or not? Roller controller only? Guess it doesnt matter since I decided not to buy. BTW- cool avatar birdie3. Bosconian's one of my faves.
newcoleco #11 Posted December 12, 2010 Yes I saw the Youtube vid- so what's the real story, unplayable w/ a bug or not? Roller controller only? ... Like I've pointed out, very quickly, and it's for roller controller only... unless you play an hacked version like the one on my web site. As for being playable, it's mostly a question of personal opinion because it's a challenging game, with a few glitches that doesn't prevent you to play and enjoy the game... unless of course if you are very bad at this game. BTW- cool avatar birdie3. Bosconian's one of my faves. As has been mentioned previously, Victory requires the Roller Controller in order to play and in fact uses all FOUR fire-buttons on the Roller Controller to perform different functions like Shield, Smart Bomb, Thrust and Lasers. It's a very challenging game to try to master the controls for and probably should have had an option to use the Super Action Controller as well. The difficulty in mastering the controls is probably what kept a lot of people from playing this game more. I do recall mention of bugs in the game program, but after all these years, I don't remember what exactly they were and Coleco learned of them after mass production and delivery to stores. They, however, were not serious enough to cause any serious issues in playing the game or else there'd be some info about a recall on them. With all this talk about the game, I think I'll give it another go or at the very least let my son play it and I'll sit back and watch... seems like the more buttons and control sticks/pads a game uses the better he is at it! Rik #13 Posted December 15, 2010 This is really strange.I didn't even realize i have CV Victory!I was going through my CV games last night and surprisingly found it.I must have bought it from the thrift or flea market a while back and forgot all about it.Kind of like when you go through the pockets in your closet and find $50.00 bills! Both pleasant surprises!!!I will definitely play it tonight.

Tempest #15 Posted December 16, 2010 I thought I read somewhere that the US version was missing something that was in the CBS version (Quarks or something like that), not that it had a glitch. Tempest

BrianC #18 Posted September 12, 2011 (edited) I thought I read somewhere that the US version was missing something that was in the CBS version (Quarks or something like that), not that it had a glitch. Tempest The Quarks (the alien things trapped in boxes on the ground) are the glitch. They aren't missing. There's a bug keeping them from being released in the US version. Edit: Doh! December 2010. Older than I thought. Odd that it's the only one that came up when I searched for Victory in the title on these CV forums. I would have thought that there would be more. VectorGamer #19 Posted September 12, 2011 I like Victory - good game. And if you don't have a roller controller, I recommend getting one. I've been playing a lot games using the roller controller instead (SubRoc, Star Wars, Carnival)
ozma wars #20 Posted September 13, 2011 unplayable ? bugs ? I have both Colecovision and Cbs versions, all the two play well on a regular Cbs console and never had a problem. I remember a score of when was a boy of approx. 600000 points. never seen a bug. Recommended. Also have the version hacked and playable with std. controller. Not yet tested, no time .. . Really a good game. Never seen to the arcades.

It doesn't make the game unplayable, but it is missing something from the CBS version. Edited September 14, 2011 by BrianC
