Just wondering if anyone ever heard of these or knows anything about it?

Beam Rider

Zaxxon

I assume it is just a copy of the same rom and they made their own boxes and carts?

I really like the Zaxxon box and cart, I think it looks pretty cool. icon_shades.gif

I am not really into collecting box variations so not interested in them but I was wondering if anyone had information on these since I had never heard of this before.

The box style looks right. Not sure about the carts. However it would be pretty easy to laser print boxes at "Office Max" and make up some fakes. Probably should ask for a pic of back of the cartridge housing and see if it is from Opcode codes homebrew mold. I would be leary, especially since the box edges are not sharply creased and there looks to be "toner flacking" on the bottom edge of the yellow box.

Coleconut made up a Taiwan Cooper style box for his "Fireman" release.

The cart shell face and side definitely look like the ones made by Coleco. Aside from that, there were a lot of Taiwanese bootlegs made, but the box condition for both look to good to be true. Another crap shot!

I dont own any but assume that its the same rom. Some of these bootleggers add or remove a little something from the title screens - like some of the South American bootlegs change some language, etc.

These show up on Ebay from time to time. Rumour has it that some of these Cooper Black are showing up in Venezuela in a warehouse find and may become available soon, likely at a much more attractive price. Likely the seller will post something, he is currently offering Atari Cooper Blacks in Marketplace.

RE Fireman, yeah retroillucid did a great job making these boxes up for me, I came up with the idea of using this style, mocked one up and he ran with it. My son-in-law Chris Coles did the artwork for the box and label graphics (he's doing the artwork for the new Pitfall release by pixelboy as well - talented boy). I showed him examples of other Cooper Black art styles and he did it up for me. 5-11under did the rom dump, soldering and cart manufacture. A fun project and a lot of great help from friends and family.

I own Fireman as well and it was really well done by all involved. icon_thumbsup.gif I've ordered a set of the Atari ones from Ed and I sure hope there will be CV versions to follow. icon_winking.gif
