BSRSteve
Is there any place where I can find out what instructions go with what box so when I put loose pieces together I do as good a job as I can? INTV Funhouse doesn't show me that. Also, how do I know which varieties are rare and which are common. It would be simpler to put stuff up fixed price, but I have no idea what is what. Just by means of a heads up, Spiker is rare.
+intvsteve
Is there any place where I can find out what instructions go with what box so when I put loose pieces together I do as good a job as I can? INTV Funhouse doesn't show me that. Also, how do I know which varieties are rare and which are common. It would be simpler to put stuff up fixed price, but I have no idea what is what. It's a real challenge to reconstruct what should be a valid set. Generally speaking, at least country of origin of the parts for most releases will be the first layer of checking. I.e. USA box, manual and cart. Overlays are, by and large, printed in the USA with only a few exceptions. The early and late releases can pose interesting challenges. Generally speaking, if a Mattel box refers to the keyboard component on the front, the oldest available revision for the manual is a good way to go, matching country of origin between box, manual, and cart label. Usually, once you get the boxes w/o references to the keyboard component, it depends on whether the game was introduced later or not. Those are often rev (B) or © manuals -, or Gn (where n is some number). The most challenging games will be ones that were popular over the lifetime of the console -- Baseball, Space Battle, Football, etc. Football has the added bonus of the playbooks, where it seems all bets may be off. Space Battle changed networks and went through a ROM revision. I always wondered if there were basically just stacks of these supplies that were assembled basically arbitrarily. That said, you can be pretty sure a 'FOR COLOR T.V. ONLY' "special" box from the earliest release of Backgammon that doesn't have a color manual w/ the ABPA logo, and a green label on the cart is going to be a Frankenstein. The later releases started saying generic things like "Made wherever it says on the part you're looking at" or even listing several possible locations.
BSRSteve
The new empty boxes sold quickly, so here are some used signed Thunder Castle boxes: https://www.ebay.com/itm/302860176322
BSRSteve
I posted my NIS copy of FCTVVO Las Vegas Poker Blackjack - https://www.ebay.com/itm/302863262611(after verifying that I had the right components for my non-inshrink copy. Is there a premium for the gatefold boxes for Burger Time? I have some used, signed copies of Mattel Electronics BurgerTime, both gatefold and not and am trying to determine how to price them. Very nice! Is there a premium for the gatefold boxes for Burger Time? I have some used, signed copies of Mattel Electronics BurgerTime, both gatefold and not and am trying to determine how to price them. With that one, I think a big part of it is condition. It's a nice variation to get - the real challenge is getting one that's in good shape. I think it, and Buzz Bombers gatefold, were made using a thinner or weaker cardboard that just didn't hold up over the years.

I haven't kept a close tab on the previous sales but I guess since this one is NIB I guess it commands more $$.
+intvsteve
JasonLikesINTV has probably tracked this more closely than most. Generally, it seems that Poker and Math Fun are the two hardest ones to locate in this interesting subset.

I haven't kept a close tab on the previous sales but I guess since this one is NIB I guess it commands more $$. Las Vegas Poker and Blackjack is definitely one of the hardest of these to find. Math Fun as well, though I suspect there are more out there than one would think. I'd add Basketball and Armor Battle too. I've only seen one other sealed one (Backgammon) and a birdie told me the seal was ripped somewhat. I can't remember if that one went for $50 or $100, but possibly a record for a FCTvVO rariant. I'm guessing this LV P&B will do quite well.

Atari_Bill
Congrats to the winner of this very rare Snafu variant! Good price too! eBay Auction -- Item Number: 372412126671 Thanks! I was very surprised it saw no action. I was fully prepared to go a little extra for this. This one was the first boxed one I'd seen in I can't recall how long. Now if I could just find that Sea Battle box....
+intvsteve
Congrats to the winner of this very rare Snafu variant! Good price too! eBay Auction -- Item Number: 372412126671 Had that in my watch list and nearly bid on it just because... Would have been an upgrade, but not a super drastic one. The copy I do have probably took 10 years to pull together from various partial finds / gifts. In fact, I have two copies of the manual because one of them is a hurricane survivor (either Hugo or Ivan) -- and is in a sealed plastic pouch -- along with some mold from water damage. (eep!) The (trashed) international box also came w/ a German manual and Hong Kong cart, IIRC... One of those late Intellivision, Inc. where they must have had EU-market overstock but needed English manuals... At least that's the theory. Sea Battle is weird... I seem to recall it being pretty easy to get a long time ago... I remember opening up a sealed one to see if it had an overlay variant in it. Haven't checked much on it in a long time, though but now that you mention it, it does seem pretty rare.

I probably would have bid on it, but I already have one and knew you were both bids Sea Battle is surprisingly tough to find a though I bet that once you do find one it's sealed. A surprising number of the ones I've seen are sealed. Actually, there was a member a while back that found a sealed 6-pack and was selling them for around $30 each IIRC.
