ColecoVision Museum DVD

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Jim (NIAD) and I are working on a DVD Museum Archive for the ColecoVision, ADAM and Coleco Industries

This will be all made in HTML, kind of offline website

The archive will contains everything you ever want to see and many previously unseen information as well as exclusive one too

We need your help though, this cannot be done without everyone's precious help, you can help us by making scans, photos and many other things (we'll soon ask what we need exactly)

Even if you only have 1 scan, or 1 photo, we want it!

This thread will be used for posting infos/questions and ideas for this DVD

Great news. I'll certainly contribute as much as I can and promise to be quicker in delivery than I have to you in the past.

Would be useful to specify the resolution, file type and quality settings that you would prefer (assuming contributors are making new scans).

Will the contents of the latest CV FAQ be incorporated? There is some very interesting information captured in that document and it would be nice to centralise this within the DVD content.

Looking forward to this project immensely.

The higher, the better , but we'll take anything people can contribute... really, even if the resolution is not good (as long as we don't have it yet)

For sure! One of the many ideas of this project is to replace the CV FAQ

All the infos from the FAQ will be incorporated in the DVD Archive

Great Idea.

What i would like to see too, is all production / Proto / Planed project done by Colecovision for other consoles. (Atari, Intellivision).

I would love to know more about for instance Smurf on Intellivision... if somebody have something.

And it would be interresting to have some developper inputs , and kind of "make in of" story and anecdote.

What kind of technical probleme they encountered how they solve it. What kind of development kit they had. How the works was done... etc..etc..

I had exchanged some time ago few mail with the developper of FrontLine. It was really interresting to know for instance, that the first game never made on a colecovision was Cosmic Avenger. And this game was done as "proof of concept" of the console.

As far as Coleco creations for other systems (2600 and Inty), I've given that some thought, but have been so busy dealing with the CV and ADAM stuff that I haven't gotten around to it. If it doesn't make it into the initial release, maybe a future update would be able to squeeze it in. Thankfully there are a lot wonderful Atari and Inty sites on the web that cover this subject to reference as well as queench everyone's thirst.

It would be cool to be able to track down more of the original programmers/developers and get interviews like the webzine Coleco Nation was able to do... so hopefully more of these people will be found and interviewed because I love reading about their experiences. We would also like to hear your story as well as all the other homebrewers!

A section that I really want to be present in the archive is, Coleco Industries Employees

I want to be able to cover all employees names with photos and interview them if possible

Covering coleco games on other systems (Intv, Atari) would be great, maybe Intv and atari fans could help us with that

I already have a bunch of stuff but will certainly need help from others

Homebrew section will present for sure! I do really want to cover all the homebrew scene

Hey Jim, why don't you ask Alert to pin this topic to the top of the forum?

Where is the current CV FAQ?

Guys, I'm really interested in seeing your work on this. From what I've seen from you in the past, it will be really great! If there was anything I could contribute, I would.

I think for now I'll just have to don my Dallas cheerleader outfit and jump and shout from the sidelines. icon_mrgreen.gif

Another late suggestion: How about a a thorough history on where Coleco came from?

The wikipedia tells us that in 1932 Coleco was founded by Maurice Greenberg as "Connecticut Leather Company" Co Le Co... But it would be coold to get a little more in depth than wikipedia. Or maybe that's all we know, I don't know. *shrug*

Break Time

That's something related to the idea of doing a museum, showing how important this kind of project really is.

In this video, kids (in 2010) try to guess what are these objects from our past (20-30 years ago) including an authentic gameboy and a colecovision game cartridge. This video was made by Cyberpress, near where I live, which explains why it's in french, and the guy who uploaded this video added annotions in english so it's easier for you to understand... but I'm sure you can understand a few words, very common words, without reading the annotations.

Good continuation with the ColecoVision Museum DVD!

Haha. At the risk of sounding totally not me, that video was cute. :) I especially laughed when the boy tried to MC scratch the record. icon_mrgreen.gif
